Couple a months ago I got this tsuba signed Otsuki Mitsuoki. It is a wakizashi size tsuba and quiet thick , about 7mm. I do not know much about tsubas because it`s not my field but I think this is a very well carved one. Any comment is welcome.

Tanks all for your input. The length of this nakago is shorted a long time ago. But the sides of this nakago are also cut down probably to fit in the gunto mounts , it is done roughly probably with a saw. So the original shape of the nakago isn`t there any more. Therefore may question in the first place.

When you can purchase a sword with a suriage nakago by ( let`s say a good) smid and both sides of the nakago are cut of to fit in a WW2 koshirae has that effect on the value of the sword ? See picture white arrow.

Thanks gents for the info. I think just an ornament , for a menuki it`s to small ( 18x9mm )

When I look at the horimono with a magnifying glass you can see that the blade is polished in the past after the horimono is made , therefore some higher point of the design is gone. Maybe thats the reason that it not looks as should be. Just my opinion. Leon.
