  1. Robert That is a glorious Heianjo. Thanks for posting. Here's one of my favorites (nice dark patina - washed out by flash); it's not the "classic" Heianjo, but I like it because it tells a story/poem. All inlay intact (I think). Rich

    Tanto tsuba

I wonder why so many of this type; what type/age tanto were they made for? Rich

    Tanto tsuba

Dale, Stephen Interesting tsuba. I have one exactly like it. Obtained in a G.I. stash buy about 25-30 years ago. At least it has a little age 🙂 Rich
  4. IMHO, Shinshinto in Sendai (Ogaki) mounts. I have one in similar mounts, but not as nice as yours. Rich

  6. Stephen Your post above is so light gray can barely read it.

    Mon ID help

Mark From Google: there are other sites; https://doyouknowjapan.com/symbols/ I looked through Hawley's book of Mon - nothing exact Rich
  10. Call the Post Master at your local USPS. Give him/her the tracking Info and ask for help. Explain how long your package has been "stuck". Hopefully the post master can track it and get it moving. I've always had good luck with long delayed packages and "stuck" tracking by doing that. Hope you get your sword soon. Rich

  15. The top pic reminds me of a Chinese scholars scepter. Ruyi. Rich
  16. Geez... I have two "Princess Tanto". Anyone interested in buy them??? 🙂 Rich
  17. Steve Those are great, very informative articles. Thanks. Rich
  18. Brian Thanks, great link. Saved link. Rich Edit: read over the article. Maybe correct on first tsuba, but only mention of second is as a late Edo imitation of Yamakichibei . Oh well, I still like it; well made. Attribution corrected. Sometimes the dragon wins
  19. I would be very interested in Steve's article also. I have two Yamakichibei, one old and one Norisuke (I think?). Maybe Brian could post it as a download? Would love to know more about these two (attributions are mine). Rich
  20. Brian I know how hard (and painful) setting all the new stuff has been. Thanks. Is there a way to delete the Japan News from the top of the page. I, personally, find its scrolling a bit annoying. Rich
  21. Nice. I wonder if the Zunari-Kabuto was the model for Darth Vader's helmet in Star Wars? Rich
  22. Don't know why, but picture is not showing up. Rich OK, now it is.
  23. Sorry John but that would violate the Second Law of Thermodynamics. Rich
  24. Brian & Ted Thanks. I guess Nihonto Emeritus means the same as Professor Emeritus? i.e. an old fart who has forgotten most everything he knew? Rich
