  4. Anyone able to make a guess as to what era the fittings and tsuba may be from? The veteran brought back other goodies mostly photos and edged items. I will have to post more soon. The veteran had fought in okinawa
  5. Update got the blades. Sometimes crap pictures can make things seem alot worse. And the kissaki did look snapped off in the sellers photo,it is rusty but there lol. Out of polish with chips.but this blade is super sharp i can shave my arm hair with it. I do love the bird themed tsuba , also fittings are blackened copper with a super neat dragon motif. I will ad some pictures. This blade has no mei.... But seems to be of quality. Will try for more pictures tomorrow. Any comments welcome!
  6. Yes i saw some terrible dings etc. I figure if ibcan snag it for 50 bucks it may make a neat wall hanger
  7. I am to pick these blades up today and hope to share more pictures of better quality later
  8. Looked like a mix of parts thrown together for wartime use. They do not look too special
  9. Guys any thoughts on this unsigned wakizashi? Seller says it has no mei and is a ww2 bringback item. Any opinions would be appreciated. Seller states its mounts would be 1900s era.not too sure
  10. I had turned a collector buddy of mine onto it. Thanks for the info guys. Thanks again , Chuck
  11. Guys thanks for the information. I believe this is a wartime blade.although a very nice one as it has a nice active hamon and hada. Very very well balanced abit hefty
  12. Thanks for your info, i will have to put the tang under a scanner and use those pictures. instead. the angles of the strokes are what serious interpreters look for in generational distinctions. the blade is signed magoroku, who later proclamed himself to be the 27th generation kanemoto, it is a showato era blade so certain features are distinct to a shinsa panel that would pickup on this, i had just had got ahold of a tadayoshi blade for a serious collector buddy of mine. The only difference between 1st and 4th generation tadayoshi was a slight crooked 2nd character kanji that was only understood by an author who wrote the book on the hizen sword school. I have seen his mei signed a couple different ways never this.
  13. The mei looks to be chiseled abit differently. Not sure about a grinding dremel tool.
  14. Guys i picked this up from a widow of a veteran whom was local to me who sold his bringback rifles pistols and swords. Guy fought in 1944 i do have some of his service records. It has been cleaned or polished and you can see some dirt and grime in the makugi hole etc and some pitting by the mei. It sucks it has been cleaned but its safe now Is it possible that i may have an earlier kanemoto blade based on how the characters are written possibly slightly differently from generation to generation? 'Still having trouble on the forum figuring out how to flip my pictures the correct way for mei translation.
  15. Would this be a traditionally made blade?
  16. shugyosha thank you very much for your information provided, it should be a decent blade to grab up
  17. bazza i will look over this information and thanks for taking the time to respond. thanks, chuck
  18. Guys i am to meet with a local seller that had shown me a couple blades, the first blade on top in dark saya i believe to be a mid war type98, and the other looks to be a decent blade in non military mounts? Possibly pre war? i will post a few pictures the seller has provided, i do not read much kanji. any help with translation would be much appreciated. I will ask for more pictures from the seller. The blade with orange red paint is the military mounted blade. And mei with black paint ia on the blade in non military mounts in plain wooden saya. I will ask for pictures of the other sides tomorrow as i think the seller may be unaware there may be a signature on both sides... And having trouble turning the last photo the right way
  19. Here are some more photos
  20. Thank you very much for the information. I will have a look at the info you have provided, i hope to put this one up for sale soon after more research
