Great job Chris. And a really nice collection Alternatively see CEWE. I don't see the size of your book, nor the number of pages (I assume A4, 1 page - 1 blade, approx. 20 sheets) If you would like to print a larger number, I personally use justprint.sk (I did not find a DE or GB mutation). They do not use hardcover (print catalogs) To give you an idea - I defined A4 cover 250g paper, inside 170g, full color, 52 pages ... 50pcs - 17 EUR / pc, 100 pcs - 9 EUR / pc, 200pcs - 5,30 EUR / pc ( w/o VAT )

How to safely unstick shirasaya?
Brano replied to Brano's topic in General Nihonto Related Discussion
Thanks Ray. Thanks for the idea, Steve. There is no glue visible inside the first half, even in strong flashlight light, but there is obviously a problem somewhere. -
During the last shipment, the tsuka on the shirasaya was unstuck during transport (in fact, I don't even know if the nakago case is called "tsuka" for the shirasaya) So I googled and cooked rice glue It holds really well The problem is that after gluing nakogo does not fit into the tsuka (about 1.5 cm is missing) It probably pushed part of the rice glue in, dried and created an obstacle - I have no other explanation Over the weekend I will produce a tool / scraper with which I will try to clean the glued joint from the inside If that doesn't work, can anyone advise me how to open tsuka without damaging the wood? Thank you in advance Brano

How can the authenticity of NTHK-NPO be verified?
Brano replied to Brano's topic in General Nihonto Related Discussion
NTHK-NPO was asked by a collector who sold me the blade. And yes - he has my complete trust I never thought of Masamune with this blade. He doesn't match the sugata and I'm not a complete treasure hunter. -
How can the authenticity of NTHK-NPO be verified?
Brano replied to Brano's topic in General Nihonto Related Discussion
Hi Robert, Yes, you are right. This thread was created yesterday after information from one of the members and his opinion on the blade. The photo of nakago on Kanteisho is 99% identical to nakago on the blade. Therefore, I was wondering if the authenticity of the document could be verified somewhere. Naotsuna and Shinshinto's attempt at Soshu Den is an abysmal difference in the view of the blade. After sending the photos to Mr. Kenji Mishina and his opinion, I started a thread about the blade itself today. I take the attribute of Masamune with great foresight. Kanteisho is I think Naotsuna Den, but we should still be in Koto - the late Nambokucho. If so - I am satisfied and happy -

The photo of nakago corresponds to nakago on the blade The attribute was significantly questioned by an experienced collector -

Sometimes I have fun with myself, as I look at a few photos for 15 minutes and admire the "piece of steel". Matsukawa is amazing My favorite is blade number 3 (photos 3 and 4)

Book - 200 Great Masterpiece of Japanese Sword
Brano replied to Brano's topic in General Nihonto Related Discussion
Thank you Brian. Of course I have this book. Dmitry's book is excellent I hope someone will publish a book of the most precious blades in the quality of Dmitry's book -
Today I got a book I was really looking forward to. 200 Great Masterpiece of Japanese Sword Great sounding title. Have a close look at the selection of the most precious in Nihonto. B4 format, index in English, some life-size blade photos But ... The quality of the photos is ..... say we can see sugata, yakiba, in 10-20% of the photos some hataraki ... It's just my opinion. But personally I think that in the Meito Zufu dated 1938 that I have, there is a better level of pics in terms of detail (obviously is not excellent :-)) Do you know anyone about a similar book that has been published in recent years and has good photo quality?

Have I broken any rules I don't know about?

Yes, Ken, I realize - of course I found this thread by accident and wanted to thank Yurie for her great work

Dear Yurie, I found your website a few weeks ago. I'm a beginner collector from Slovakia. There is essentially no collector community in my country, so I can only get information from books in English and information on the web. Your website is simply amazing. Interestingly written history of Japan and influence on the development of swords. Greatly explained characteristics of blades and individual schools in different time periods I hope you will publish your knowledge in your book once and look forward to it I sincerely thank you for your time and willingness to share your knowledge with other Japanese nihonto fans I have found a lot of valuable information on your site and I will always be happy to come back here

Jean-Pierre, that is why I have opened this debate I found something that enchanted me. And I wanted to know the opinion of experienced people Maybe you are right that when I buy it, I will look at it differently for half a year and I will regret not deciding otherwise My sword is reserved, but I guess I have something to think about at night Jean-Pierre, that is why I have opened this debate I found something that enchanted me.
