  1. I was looking today at Mishina's website; on the page referring to contemporary tsukamaki by Yasuo Toyama I see an example called "Fuji-maki" which seems to be baleen. Does somebody knows the kanji for "fujimaki" or the kanji to use for the baleen wrapping please? Any help is appreciated. I have done some random kanji choice and search but the closest thing I got as result is the wrapping of Japanese saws handles. Thank you

    Mon on Tsuba

This page: http://www.yoroduya.co.jp/kamon/ Shows lot of Kamon... even the mitsubishi This is the hanabishi page: http://www.yoroduya.co.jp/kamon_index/ha/hanabishi.html While this is the hishi page: http://www.yoroduya.co.jp/kamon_index/ha/hishi.html Yours looks a bit different than the hanabishi to me... but there can be some sub-family variation maybe... Sorry, not big help, but the page is useful in my view; it is not complete but it is quite a big free archive.

    Kuniyoshi

I have a set in kuroshibuichi with gold and copper inlays made by hirado kunishige nidai (Hizen). The style is somehow similar, showing a kind of "framing" of the images.

  7. Thank you Guido, I really needed a reading key.. I longed watched that without notice
  8. In the italian sword association forum it happened to me to read sometimes that cheaply made koshirae to be the "satsuma koshirae", wich I agree to be a different thing, I own this book: http://cgi.ebay.it/Japanese-SWORD-SATSU ... 0105254576 To me those koshirae displayed in the book doesn't show a very topical and identifiable difference with other koshirae. The only thing seems to be the way kurikata and sakazuno are done and mounted.. I can picture the book with camera if it is of use.
  9. Ken, check your PM out please.

  12. Something I see; The brass habaki looks suspicious to me, as well as the sword not showing niku.. and no sizes are written; could it be a modern sword made especially for iaido?

Ahaha sorry sorry! As usual I was not clear  As for stars and the moon obviously. My question was about planets, but, it seems that we are referring to stars so the problem doesn't exist. Those in effect could be stars. What I see is that on the bottom what seems undenuki ana are in the same size and position (just 180° rotated) also on the top; then, a little hole near the kozuka ana, and another elliptical non hitsu shape that doesn't seems to be a star... I can't remember if I have seen something similar in my books :? .. but you have more than me

Does Japanese knew planets in the Momoyama period? Couldn't this be sort of abstract art?
  15. Between yakuza sounds common :D
  16. My feedback, I hope it helps this beta testing session. I received confirmation email with empty text. When I try to log in with my chosen password it says me login data incorrect. So I tried to use the "lost your password" function and I immediately received a "your new password" email, but this too is empty.

  20. I can just quote Jean. Superlative. Many thanks for having satisfied my request... Lovely, really....
  21. My very personal opinion. Guri bori F/K in my view are very nice and should go with a matching tsuba. The wakizashi original tsuba seems very low quality to me, so it is possible that the original guri-bori tsuba has been sold in the past too and replaced with that one. You can think to replace it too but only with a matching one. Other option, keep the koshirae as it is and make a whole new one as a spare. You can have many koshirae for one blade if you wish.
  22. ありがとうございました、助かります。
  23. Thank you again
  24. Many thanks Paul. I don't have that book in my collection, going to get a copy soon
  25. Moriyama san hontou ni arigatou gozaimashita. Carlo, I think so. Beautiful! I must say I was thinking about a lacquered and geometric structure, but that root looks interesting too
