  1. Not Fukure (Blisters). These are Ware.
  2. Signed, Koa Isshin Mantetsu Saku Kore. Dated Spring, 1941
  3. KANETSUNE Tsubaki (Camellia) Oil | eBay
  4. Never use Renaissance wax on a blade. Also, Neverdul won't remove the gunk. Alcohol (Isopropyl) will remove it.
  5. I don't think one could call this as having an O Kissaki. In my opinion, it would still be classed as, Chu Kissaki.

    Emura call

I had the same argument with Chris Bowen, on this forum. Chris claimed he had never seen a good Emura. I said I had seen some very nice ones, including one which I owned. After some to and froing , Chris concluded the all swords should be judged on their own merit.
  7. Michael, a bit rude. It was just my opinion.
  8. Like Kirill, I at first thought Kanbun. However, I don't think it's a Shinto Mino Hamon. To me, it looks like a Shinshinto copy of a Margaroku.
  9. This is not the same Masafusa as shown from the page of Slough. This one is a Seki Showato , also the signature is different. Shoda Masafusa made Gendaito.

    Kantei

    Taima?
  11. The sword is Nijimei, 2 character signature, Kanenori. Kanenori, made both Gendaito and Showato.
  12. My opinion is that, this is a Showa Period sword. The Yasurimei, is still very prominent. As for the made in Japan stamp, probably sold post war and was added by a dealer. Maybe for some legal reason.
  13. Until someone will guarantee the money, it will never get off the ground. I seriously doubt, that you will get the guarantee of 300 pieces without listing the Shinsa first. But hey, we can live in hope.
  14. They don't actually need 300, that's just the minimum amount of money they want. You don't have to guarantee the 300, just guarantee the money. When we held the first Shinsa, we were told 200. As the first day approached, we didn't have the 200. However, we had heaps of walk ins and they put us over. It's funny, although we did the mail out, so many more turned up due to word of mouth. One the problems I believe should have occurred is, advertising. For reasons I couldn't comprehend, Adrian didn't want any advertising. Now, we have FB, Twitter, the NMB etc. I also believe other forms of advertising is needed as well.
  15. Another Important part is, securing the Sword Soc. first. That then gives one the date. Next the booking of the Venue. Unfortunately, trying to organise numbers first, doesn't work.
  16. Mike, Adrian and I contacted most collectors, ourselves. Adrian had the mailing list of the defunct Australian Japanese Sword Society and we did a huge mail out. Also, I don't believe there are enough Australian collectors, here on the NMB.
  17. The 300 pieces includes, Tosugo. I believe 300 is obtainable. Three of the biggest problems are, First, a suitable venue and secondly, if having a Show with it, having enough people/dealers wanting tables. Thirdly, contacting all the collectors. One of the problems I raised with Adrian was, Advertising. Adrian was against advertising and I believed there should have been. So, as well as guaranteeing the 300 pieces, there's the other costs.
  18. As someone who was involved with both Sydney Shinsa, I can tell you it can be quite challenging. The person you should talk to is, Adrian Schlemmer. He organised and ran both Shinsa.
  19. Lovely sword Neil, reminds me of Oie Bizen.
  20. Bruce, those Kanji, say Jumyo.
  21. Possibly, Shinto, Kaga school
  22. Chris Bowen is not infallible. I saw this post on FB. His whole argument for Kunimori swords being Showato, comes from some very old articles and hearesay. I do however think that like a lot of us, we were given a lot of mis-information in the old days. Many myths and erroneous information has now been found out and altered. But here we are 2021 and there's those who still endorse these myths and erroneous mis-truths. Ikkansai Kunimori, are Gendaito. The have proper Jihada, they are water tempered and have a distict Nioguchi. Also, they get papered.
  23. The Blade is Tired. The Jitetsu is weak towards the Hamachi. It wouldn't take a polish. I believe, the weak area of the Jitestsu would open up a lot more.
  24. Every Ikkansai Kunimori that I have seen ( I've probably seen 20+) and except a few that were too dirty, all had a distinctive Nioguchi and quite noticeable Hada. These traits, I have never seen on a sword that was Oil Quenched.
