A skinner on Skinner Auction house.
nickm replied to Stephen's topic in Auctions and Online Sales or Sellers
The woman I spoke with said that as of this moment it has not been dismantled to check for signature and that she was an unconfident in her abilities to do so. She did say that if anyone comes to view it that is confidently able to take a picture she will send me that as well -

I already spoke with the auction house and in theory have some pictures coming. Will share them with you when I get them but looks like we might be in a bidding war! -
Lol. Thanks for the confirmation

Very strange sword up for auction. Assume the signature is likely guy may as it seems newer than the rest of it and the nakago is weird but can see in one photo that it is apparently authenticly made at least.. No intent on bidding on it just curious as to the shape and nakago

To anyone considering this purchase wanted to yet again say this is an awesome seller. Just bought an amazing blade from him that I would not trade for the world. He went above and beyond to make sure the sell went smoothly! Awesome fellow 👏 Favorite part of the sword changes daily but this is the one for today

People do heroin every day. That doesn't make it a good idea

Oh man. I'm not trying to jump on the beat up on you bandwagon but you are definitely on the wrong forum to say that these antique works of art are meant to be used. Theory goes we are caretakers keeping them safe to pass one to the next generation. Machetes u buy at Walmart are meant to be used...
-
I appreciate it Grey. Granted not much to go on but judging from shape and general thickness I assume a relatively newly made blade?
-
Picked this up recently and wondering if anyone can tell me more about it. Not anything exciting but of course the more the merrier.. We'd like to be my last purchase for a while but I relatively healthy thick ko-wakizashi
-
Looking forward to shinsa at the Chicago show in april
-
Agreed all around. Purchased a Koto norimitsu katana from Stephen on the forum. Super impressed with it
-
Google nihonto fatal flaws.. The older the blade the more cosmetic issues you can kind of get away with but everything detracts from value age regardless. The older it is the less it detracts.. If there is a fatal flaw it is basically of little to no value to a collector. There is also the idea of tired blades. Those that have been polished so many times that additional Polish will reveal further issues.

Can't speak to much other than that as a beautiful sword. Had I not just spent $4000 on another beautiful sword that I wouldn't trade for the world I would have already bought it
-
That I do not. Looking into it even now
-
Not to derail the thread but always eager to learn, what style? Can't find any examples online
-
Somewhat new to this whole thing but have looked at a whole bunch of swords and that nakago is weird
-
Returning the sword. Got a remarkably better one from Stephen on the site. Will literally be treasured. This one is riddled with evidence of an awful amateur polish
-
All the little black lines you see on the blade are forging flaws. It is an authentic Japanese sword but not something desirable as even though this hobby can span swords 800 years old flaws make them less attractive to potential future buyers. If you are new to collecting and this is your 1st round and it's cheap it is authentic but it's not something that will have much resell value. All that said with a grain of salt as I am relatively new to this as well but so it goes.

Work has been a touch crazy with caterings pre Labor Day. We'll get some pictures up of the clean version this afternoon. Positively amazing difference
-
Will do. Goof off was amazing! I will post the after pics but took about a minute and was mind blowing how well it worked It is far from the norimitsu but made a world of difference
-
I have already posted on Stevens sale. He seems rather discerning and who he will allow to purchase but if I am on the list I'm the guy. I very much appreciate as always the guidance from this forum
-
As always I appreciate the replies. This forum is an invaluable resource and I will be making a donation nation today or tomorrow. Too much money to show at something with mixed opinions and agreed that the koshirae is unfortunate
-
Have the opportunities to buy this sword at discount through eBay for close to $4000.. Love the look of it and and I'm wondering is it completely foolish to spend this much money on it?

Just got in this ww2 era sword.. Seperate thread related to its being covered in goop.. My did the advice do the trick there! Will be updating soon but wondering the Smith. Seems a healthy sword otherwise. Working on better pics but you guys are genies so thought I would post
