  1. @Misconstrued Hi Jace, out of interest it would be good to know if the saya throat is numbered? If so, would you be able to post a clear picture of it? Pictures of mine attached FYI. Rob
  2. Hi Chris...bit scarry as the tsuka and screws look just like my 'genuine' late 95......although my blade has much more geometry and is cleaner all round. Even retaing a mirror finish in one side of the kissaki. (Happy to post a couple of pics for comparison if wanted). In regard to the numbering on Jace's sword, I fully realise that the stamping of serial numbers on blades of wooden tsuka late war 95's is totally inconsistent and quite variable compared with earlier variations but I just dont like what I see here. I agree with you that the blade does look a little sloppy. It looks like its lived a much harder life than the tsuka and mounts but on balance, I also think its genuine (just dont like numbers/inspection stamp (?) like that) Rob
  3. Thanks Piers, that pretty well sums it up very nicely I think. All the best. Rob
  4. These markings are actually on an ivory puzzle ball and I understand that should be of Chinese origin. However the seller believes 'could be' Japanese. Sorry about the orientation but I'm not sure which way is up. Thank you in advance. Rob
  5. Yes Baz, and his address is.........?
  6. Tks John and John....yes two kanji (dahh )...and I'm going for Kotani YASUNORI....good match. Tks Rob
  7. Hello all, this just looks strange to me. One kanji and in my limited experience a unusual location on the nakago to put it. Thank you. Rob
  8. Thanks Thomas....my lack of attention to detail....no probs with blade/numbering. Sorry I cant provide any Ebay link as it finished day before yesterday I think and I only had it on Watch List out of interest. I am not aware if u you can search Ebay forr closed items....dont think so. From memory, pics were the same as originally posted by John B but may be not be complete 'set'. Rob
  9. For interest ..... it sold on Ebay for US$660 plus an inflated postage cost of US $72 (AUD $1020) Unusually, only one bidder. I agree with Chris' comment above. Sword and saya look ok to me but what I dont like is the fuchi (all of it) and re-numbered stamp on the saya throat. Why didn't the seller include the blade inspection stamp WITH the blade number (last pic)? Original or not (?) I just wouldn't be happy with it. Rob
  10. @Brian would you be able to change title to 95 ? Tks Rob
  11. Yes Michael, that is correct. Rob
  12. John I can't (dare not 🙄) comment on the blade, but do you think the Koiguchi, Semagane and Ishizuke all look a little rough cast?
  13. Good luck B. PS...I am totally unfamiliar with Euro market prices and availability.
  14. B. Its a nice example but agree 1000 euros is too high. The pics are not great, but does anyone else think the saya could be a repaint? If so, the price must come down. Things to think about...... 1. The previous version (brass tsuba) is, imo, a nicer collectors item if your going to get only one 95. 2. Will you be happy with unmatched numbers? The more u get into this, the more choosy you become....so consider saving your money on this sword and wait for a reasonable and matched Type 95 (regardless of version). 3. Again, I agree 1000 euros is just way too much and the saya may be genuine but if its a repaint (????) its worth less. I think your estimate of US 600 to 700 (or equivalent) would be at the top end of market price for this sword in Australia. Rob
  15. Thanks for your thoughts on this Jean Collin and Brian. The reverse side is devoid of any scuffing or marks...unusual.
  16. Yes I know Bruce ...tks. I certainly enjoyed 'rubbing' it, The more I looked, the more I thought it may be the 'holy grail' of seppa 😉
  17. Killer hamon Colin 🖒
  18. Hi all, I recently bought a few seppa from Japan and after a close look found that three had, or may have, engravings of some kind. The most outstanding is a seppa with what I first thought were hammer marks but on closer in inspection it looks more like a 'picture' ....leaves....hills... or, is that simply my imagination? For clarity, I will post a couple of pics of the first seppa (ref above) accompanied with a carpenters pencil 'rubbing'. I will post the second and third seppa on following posts so as to avoid any confusion If the second and third seppa actually have legible markings, it would be great to know what they mean. Thank you.

  20. I think the real ones would have looked better with a kissaki like that!
  21. Yep Hunter...exactly what Sham said....if you paid by Paypal you may also have a chance of money back through that avenue. The seller was contacted and 'enlightened' by more than one member, way prior to any final bids being made....dont be too hard on yourself (but dont fall for it again either) ... the seller is culpable. Below is copied from the Paypal Australia site.......dont let the bast"/^d get away with it. Good luck. Shop with confidence. If your order is significantly different to the seller’s description or doesn’t arrive, you have 180 days to file a dispute. It could be that the event you bought a ticket for was cancelled, you didn’t receive everything you bought, or the item was defective, damaged or counterfeit. We can protect you for the full purchase price plus shipping costs, up to $20,000 per item.
