  1. thanks for your opinions guys, already understand, original blade and part of the fittings, create in meigi era for a own owner or for a trader that want to make more money with blade, the blade indeed dont dissagree me, i think the saya can be a reproduction and the tsuka and same too, im already donne the same making my own blade, i will like to create my own piece is a showa blade but have fuchi, kashira, tsuba and menukis buying in Japan of a good quality, made for a koshirae profesional with certification, and the saya and tsuka will be gonna be new of course, i wanted my own katana after all you can collect many tipes of katanas, original, in sirayasa, etc.
  2. so nothing is donne in edo? even blade? i got a showa katana signed, and dont have many rust on nagako its true but, is very clear comparing with this, i got mumei too with kicho and other signed that can be gimei, i didnt kow this tipe of koshirae was popular for westerns in Meige era, the blade at least seems make it with tamahagane not like copies in nowadays that you can see in souvenirs places of Japan.
  3. hi Geraint, nakago pictures added, the question is why elaborate a hard kind of saya like this when you can make a cheaper saya with no pictures, no motherpearl, etc, maybe some collector creation? the fuchi and kashira is not a master piece i agree but are better than a non relieved one, so it seems they got a little of work to do it, not a daymio sword quality but courios one, meake a new tsuka are not so ceap, and all koshirae seems worked not the finest quality but better of a normal one, my toughts it will be donne after edo, can be, same seems very clear, maybe for a collector that dessign his own waki, or restored an old family one?
  4. i like to know the experts thougts about this waki, is short abut 32 cm seems more a tanto but seems original to me, is mumei,i dont have problems about the blade, original 100%, not forging flaws, hagire, etc. i suposed Edo era but the koshirae is rare and for this reason i like it, the saya is a well donne job, the eye of the dragon is a piece of motherpearl, the tsuka seems very original for his form, i supposed is a edo reproduction koshirao of the muromachi antique sayas, is a dragon in one size and other size a crest family. The fuchi kashira seems good to me too, edo but first period, last period? thoughts? regards guys
  5. Thanks geraint!
  6. +1 this is exactly my toughts, regard guys
  7. Yes i see some with motherpearl and kimono under the ito, maybe is only a end edo finish, the made dont seem bad donne absolutly, with the two pieces of rope under menuki hole, seem very dificult to do too. Maybe the owner used in finish edo period, the kimmono looks good, if someone want to replicate or made a fake copy dont waste this time doing this, a normal tsuka ito is not so expensive to do too, maybe a romantic samurai XD

  16. not much i payed arround 500, i think is namban too, sems pretty autentic for the age and damage, the habakki too, where you see the hagire Jean? there a forge flaws but a dindt see fatal one, thanks. Normaly i dont gonna be in battle, and im not an great collector that spend 6k in a katana, i buy what i like and the kimono well is part of his story for good or bad, i collect for smurai history, principally, regards!
  17. Hi every one, i want your opinion about this waki, the koshirae indeed the waki im sure is original but the koshirae i have doubts, maybe from after 1900? tsuba, fuchi, kashira, etc? thanks a lot guys. i put the sageo practising, so its not original and i make a poor job because is my first try, thanks in advance. The tsuba is a little oiled for protection, for this reason shine a little bit.
  18. equal, enjoy too!
  19. i travel to Japan one month in october, i visit many shops, katana museums, etc. I speak some japanesse too, thaks good because not many japanesse speak english there. I was see hundred of magnificent swords, but i repiting im not disapointing at all im very gladly, seems like you want to make me see that is not a master work and i dont have the luck to find a treasure nacional japanesse nihonto, i dont want that, i want to see a beautiful work made from a Japanese maker and that have lived a samurai story, i dont really care the maker, mumei or gimei because i collect this katanas for is historical past, for the owners, i dont like special one shogun sword, been in saya all his live, i like the history and the past owners. I dont like a picasso picture, even if his value is 10 million dollar, maybe i like a normal picture with a normal theme well donne. For me is a hobby not a obsesion, i like bonsai too and again i dont need to have the most incredible bonsai to be happy at all, i like what i like i dont need to follow the other collectors wishes, i follow my owns, so thanks for the advice but your kind of collection and mine are different, regards
  20. for me one of my better blades, is forged almost perfect, the 3 holes one cutting the signature seem 3 diferents mountings so its old and why gonna erase a part on the signature on porpouse making a hole in it? i gont care if its gimei, the forger where ever who donne, donne a really good joob, its very well polish and beauty, i dont know many about the celebrity forgers, but of course so many donne blades many years, so 99% i thing its a little bit exagerated, i have mumey with paipers too, i trust them too
  21. then i real do a great buy, almost half of it, plus shipping of course
  22. sorry the first picture is other of my collection , the other photos are form silver habaki one, the size i think is Blade length:50.7cm/ 19.96 inches Curvature: 1.3cm / 0.51 inches Total length: 73.0cm/ 28.74inches Weight: 747.0g
