  1. The Metropolitian Museum announced the dates for its Art of the Samuari exhibition as 20 October 2009 - 10 January 2010. Michael http://NihontoCalendar.org
  2. Hi John, Speaking with Marc, the hyperlink for his email was incorrect. The new flyer with his corrected email is here: http://nihontocalendar.org/notices/2009ChicagoShowFlyer.pdf Michael http://NihontoCalendar.org
  3. Guido, The programmer came back with a solution allowing correct display of non-English characters. The jury is still out on why you were directed to German and US content. In fact yours was the only response (of 200+) that noted this anomaly. In future, there will be a feature added allowing visitors to override automated redirection in favor of personal preference if desired. Again, thank you for your time and kind attention. Michael http://NihontoCalendar.org
  4. Carlo and Lorenzo - Grazie! Guido - That is very interesting for the programmer's review. Thank you for the specific feedback. Michael http://NihontoCalendar.org
  5. Grazie Simone! Michael http://NihontoCalendar.org
  6. Brian (ZA), Thanks for the feedback. I'm glad to know that the site responded with your regional news. There has been good response across the board. A number of people have noted checking links for function; and a great idea came to readily change the calendar to upcoming months rather than going to the "list" at bottom of the month. Good suggestion - we'll look to add that function in future. Again, others if you have a moment please click http://NihontoCalendar.org/geoip and send me an email regarding your experience - you should see national news of your country if you are in one of the primary regions served by the NihontoCalendar, IE: UK, FR, US, IT, JP, DE, CA, AU, and yes...South Africa too. Your email to info@NihontoCalendar.org confirming if it worked (or didn't) is greatly appreciated. Michael http://NihontoCalendar.org
  7. I appreciate the feedback... Thanks Brian (UK), Stephen and Grey (US). Others please follow their lead and click http://NihontoCalendar.org/geoip and then send me an email regarding your experience - you should see national news of your country if you are in one of the primary regions served by the NihontoCalendar, IE: UK, FR, US, IT, JP, DE, CA, AU,... 8. I am asking for assistance testing a website improvement in development for the NihontoCalendar. If you have a moment to click http://NihontoCalendar.org/geoip and then send me an email regarding your experience I'd be obliged. You should see national news of your country if you are in one of the primary regions served by the NihontoCalendar, IE: UK, FR, US, IT, JP, DE, CA, AU,... Your email to info@NihontoCalendar.org to confirm if it worked (or didn't) is greatly appreciated. Michael http://NihontoCalendar.org
  9. Related to the status of the MET's pending Art of the Samurai exhibition, Christie's (New York) is planning a stand-alone Japanese sword auction to coincide with the opening. Michael http://NihontoCalendar.org
  10. The most recent information regarding the postponed Metropolitan Museum of Art exhibit calls for an October 2009 opening. More specifics are anticipated as the date draws nearer. Michael http://NihontoCalendar.org
  11. The MFA sent a short write up on this coming exhibit - Strength and Beauty: A Selection of Japanese Decorative Arts: 1300 – 1925. Swords and fittings will only be a part of the focus, while the Lethal Elegance exhibit will continue into June. Michael http://NihontoCalendar.org
  12. We have updated the Asia Week events to include links to the catalogs of both the Sotheby's and Christie's Auctions to occur on March 18, while the Armory show has its preview the Friday before. Also on http://NihontoCalendar.org in March during Asia Week are the MET's* Japanese Arms and Armor "Gallery Talk" and the Freeman's Auction (PA). A link to the Freeman's catalog is now up - see page 61 (161) onward for their Japanese arms and armor lots. Michael *Regarding the MET, thanks to John Prough of the NY Token Kai, we have confirmed that the highly anticipated MET exhibit in October has been postponed until next year.
