  1. While searching through online auctions in Japan, I've seen this type of origami appear multiple times. However I don't really know much about it(All I really know is that machine translations translate it as art club). Does anyone know what it is and if it is considered trustworthy? Here are some pictures
  2. I don't have access to the sword and the online auction I found it at has ended.
  3. Heres a link to where I found it: https://www.jauce.com/auction/o1123713228
  4. Thats good. Thank you for answering my question.
  5. I do have one question. For the Orlando Shinsa, when is the latest I can register for it? I have a sword I bought recently through jauce that I plan to submit for shinsa, but it is still in Japan being deregistered(they say it takes 2-3 weeks). I don't know when I will have the sword in hand.
  6. Thank you for answering my question.
  7. To my understanding the nthk split into 2 groups the nthk and nthk npo. Which of these two do shinsa in the US? Or do both do it? If both do shinsa, how do I tell which group is at what shinsa event? Also is this the website of the nthk or nthk npo (https://nthkamerica.com)?
  8. Thank you for the tip. Also I do take descriptions like the one from this auction with a grain of salt as I have seen enough dubious claims on yahoo auctions through my time looking through it.
  9. I found an interesting sword on jauce. It is a Seki Kaneuji wakizashi(I think its a wakizashi, I'm not sure). What makes it interesting is its history as it was apparently given by Tokugawa Ieyasu himself. It includes both nbthk papers and papers supposedly from Kuki Ryuichi. According the the seller and supposedly the paper(I can't read Japanese and had to rely on google translate for the kuki ryuichi paper) the sword was initially given to Tadaoki Hosokawa by Tokugawa Ieyasu and was handed down the Hosokawa family for generations. Here's a link:https://www.jauce.com/auction/m1125539979 Here is a picture
  10. Thank you for the help.
  11. I found a papered sword online and was woundering what it was attributed to(The seller claims shizu kaneuji). Here's a picture of the paper
  12. I don't even plan on bidding on this. Also the 13m yen is apperently the buy it now price.
  13. Fair enough, I'm just going to save up for a good blade. Also do you have a link on the guy, it sounds interesting and I want to know what to look for.
  14. Admittedly, I am skeptical of the listing. Mostly due to the lack of papers or proof of the supposed story. I just posted it because thought the sword looked interesting.
  15. Heres a close up picture of what I assume is the signature of the appraiser( anyone is free to translate if they want)
  16. Heres a few more pictures
  17. I like to look through yahoo auctions Japan via jauce for fun and found something interesting. The sword is a supposed masamune. It is not papered but does have a shumei, though I don't know who attributed it(I can't read Japanese). The seller claims that the current owners ancestors passed it down as a "masamune" and that it ended up overseas after ww2 going through multiple hands before ending up in the current owners hands. Now whether or not this story is true I cant say, however the sword does look nice. Its also way outside of my price range. Heres a link for anyone who might care: https://www.jauce.com/auction/b1114453731 Also heres a few pictures;
  18. Just one more thing to mention they also ask for your shipping address for customs purposes before they allow you to bid. Though they with were fine with just the state I was in and I imagine just specifying the country you are in would be enough too.
  19. Fair enough. I actually do plan on buying The Connoisseur's Book of Japanese Swords.
  20. Jauce does. You just need to agree to pay a 20,000 yen fee.
  21. Yes, I've read those articles. Which is why I am treating this sword as being paperless. I was hoping to learn more about the sword itself( era and/or school), as my kantei skills are practically nonexistant and I don't want to accidentally spend more than I should on this.
  22. I found a sword that has caught my eye and a currently debating on whether or not I should try to bid on it. The main thing that caught my eye was the fittings, but I want some help learning about the blade itself before I bid. All I know is that it is a mumei sword with tokubestu kicho papers attributed to masamune( so in practical terms a paperless mumei blade). The main things I hope to learn are era and hopefully school of it. Here are some pictures edit: here's a link: https://www.jauce.com/auction/t1124851065
  23. Thank you for the help.
