    conjure the dragon

Hello Gents I really appreciate your input on my tsuba. What a wonderful hobby, learning everyday :D I think I may have stumbled on the story now https://www.scholarsresource.com/browse/work/2144653942 I think my tsuba depicts princess kushiinada. At Izumo, a local king whose eight daughters were systematically being eaten by an eight-headed dragon named Yamata no Orichi, who resided in the local river. At the moment of Susanoō’s arrival, there was only one daughter left alive, Princess Kushiinada. As if to rectify his previous misdeeds, Susanoō acted quickly and laid a trap consisting of eight tubs of sake, one for each of the dragon’s heads. The dragon consumed the liquor and fell into a stupor, whereupon Susanoō cut off each of the heads. Many Thanks, you got me on the path Ian

    Two Sennins

Hi Bruno Is it Kume Sennin, the perverted hermit? The legend says that Kume was traveling on his cloud when he suddenly noticed a young woman near a river washing her clothes. He curiously watched the woman and unexpectedly caught a glimpse of her white leg under her raised kimono. Kume’s mind became filled with desire and he immediately lost the ability to fly. Heavy with lustful thoughts, Kume fell to the earth and crashed in front of the lady! I'm just guessing. Someone may tell you who it really is? I think you may be right in the first one. Attached is one of mine from the Edward Wrangham collection

  22. Hi George The man with the dog is iron, the Tanabata theme is shakudo and belongs with a man with a cow. The backs are very far apart. Thank you for you thoughts though. Merry Christmas Ian
