hello Durrell, it is not logical to put a fixed price on a piece and more if it is an auction, you must bid until you believe enough, tell you that in the sales section of this forum there is some at a good price and in good condition, a greeting Daniel

Levels Of Quality For Showato
DanielGJ replied to Nihontocollector19's topic in Military Swords of Japan
hello to all in my humble opinion since I am a beginner, for me to value a showato is above all the original polished in good condition, the original polish is its magic, recent polish would take away its essence and second point that is signed by blacksmith because it means that he has had the approval of a blacksmith and has passed through his hands, regarding military koshirae for me is the least valuable on a showato, a greeting to all.Daniel -
Nice showato, very collectable piece, congratulations. Daniel

Hello everyone I've seen this piece for sale over there and Nakago there is a mark that makes me doubt if it is the habaki that could have previously or if it can be a weld, you who think? Thanks and regards. Daniel

You are right Stephen, for a Westerner, could be Katana but for a Japanese, if the nagasa is not the measure of katana is an O-wakizashi, I think they are based on the nagasa not on the nakago, a greeting. Daniel

hello, thanks for the comments I'm glad you like it and I did not know that wakizashi showato are not common, that makes me happier because what is not common is often said "special", a greeting to all. Daniel from Barcelona.

Hello everyone, this is my first gunto blade signed in shirasaya, it is an O-wakizashi 58'5 cm nagasa and is in a very good state could be said to shine as fake souvenir and has no bumps or rust , and the hamon is clear from the machi to the kissaki, it is very collectable, a greeting to all. Daniel

Greetings, could you help me to classify a showato with nagasa of 58'8 cm would be considered a katana, an Owakizashi or a Kodachi? Thank you . Daniel

Yo esto no lo compraría el dragón parece europeo medieval y el horimono como si el herrero tuviese párkinson , el color de la cuchilla es raro , para mi lo principal es que sea japonés luego viene yodo lo demás, un saludo.

thanks for the information, I know that the state is not good but in Spain it is very difficult to find samurai pieces. I found this lucky, and if for nihonto this may be cheap but when it is the first one that you see and physically touch that joy, the I remember, I would like to spend $ 3000 on a nihonto, but I have family and priority expenses, greetings to all.

Well I do not know, but I think it's a whole piece is not going by parts and I have not seen any sleeve without a tip, greetings.
-
thanks Kyle, about the golden thread engraved on the sleeve indicates something ?
-
hello can you help me with the translation of symbols and because the sleeve or saya has a golden thread engraved on the tip, thank you very much.

hahahaha so bad you see it? because in reality but the nakago the joja is quite pretty and cuts like a demon, I personally prefer to have swords that are old and with marks, signatures or numbers that mean nothing, that a Muramasa sword or matsumune ... you will think that person more rare, but I believe that all the Japanese sword signs that it does not have its certificate of Japanese 95% must be false, an example in ebay there is a seller of users that which is not its name because it does not Proceed, then, it has some super swords with a dazzling, impeccable koshirae and all the signatures and bids last 5 days and again more great swords, but all the Japanese chains, has a stock of swords that neither a frutero in his fruteria, an I like my sword and I assure you that I have seen much worse ruins, a greeting Jean.
