    Thank you Raymond! the blade appears much older than that. Were old blades put back into military service, and marked when they were refitted?

    This is a wakasashi with a 37.5 nagasa, 12.6 nakago. It has been shorten. I think I noticed a mei quite like this several months back, but have not been able to locate it. Has any one seen this before?

    Thank you Ray and Jean. Yes it looks like it has been enhanced, and may not be as it was, but a place to start from. Does its form seem familiar to you?

    I believe this is a Koto period blade, it was found in kaigunto mounts. the nagasa is 69.4 at this time, shortining on nagasa is evident, the sori is 1.4, the mihaba 2.8, the sakihaba 1.9, the kissaki is 4.1. Your thought and help on this is very much appreciated, Pat

    Thank you Peter & Uwe, what throws me the most is multiple uses of the same kanji. Means this except when, its the accept when you are helping me get used to. Having said that, Yamato No Kami Fujiwara Tadayuki. It appears to be Tad 320. Thanks again, Pat There is a 05 April 2014 that matches this

    I have just made a donation in appreciation of all that you members do in helping us identify our swords. I do first spend time in giving it a good try, and some times it goes well, but not this time. The blade is 15 1/8 inch long, has a sori of 3/8 ths of an inch, and a 3 3/8ths in Kissaki. It is in good polish, I will attach a few pictures. The translation should help in when and wher it came from, but any other thoughts are appreciated. Pat

    I have been working on identifying several swords in my collection. Once again after long periods of and on again trying to match kanji, A cry for help. I will post several pictures. The nagasa is 63.8 cm, the sori is 1.8 cm, and the nakago is 21.4 cm. Thank you for any help you can share, or site to read. I did notice that the hand that signed the mei seems different from the hand that dated it. Pat

    Thank you Raymond,,Ed. The Nagasa is 26 15/16 of an inch. The nakago mune is finished very slightly rounded.

    Thank You Klause, this has been very helpful. This appears correct to my eyes, for the yondai mei 1710-1725. Would any one weigh in on this !

    It has been suggested that this is Hawley Tad 295, but the oshigata seem closer to earlier generations. I will attach several pictures, Thank you for any guidance you can share. Pat

    Thank you for the welcome Jean, and the info, I was not aware of that. Thinking back of pictures, it becomes obvious, but why then are most WWll tangs signed the other way? Just because, or is there some protocol?
