  1. Yep, that surprises me. Sure looked to me like it might have some age to it.
  2. Dimensions aren't accurate, I'm just measuring the photo; but looks possibly koto to me. Kissaki please?
  3. Maybe just the angle of the photo, but the shinogi looks awfully high for it to be showato.
  4. Ashley, I think Bruce was asking about the other side.
  5. Terrific blade. Congrats!
  6. And maybe someone's first attempt at it, too? It appears contrived to me. And if the habaki are trying for Kaga style, shouldn't they have five notches instead of three?

  8. Certainly looks like habaki to me. Rather unusual for tsuba motif. Could the 4 (shi) combined with the geometry imply "death on the cross"? I wouldn't rule it out.
  9. Francois posted this link in one of your other threads. Good info on the rating system used in the Toko Taikan and other systems.
  10. That's amazing. USPS should get into design-your-own; it would probably be a money maker.
  11. I don't get it , but I don't watch demon slayer; so I presume it's a replica of a fantasy sword? It slays me, too
  12. I'd use nothing more than a dry Q-tip gently on those wet looking areas and see if it will remove whatever is giving that appearance.
  13. I like it. Looks interesting. Is there masame in the shinogi-ji ?
  14. To me there's kind of a garden vibe
  15. Went browsing and found this seller has had a few: https://www.samurai-nippon.net/SHOP/list.php?Search=tadatsuna Four of the five have horimono.
  16. Your phone takes way better photos than mine. I'll bet that blade has some heft. Any idea what it weighs?
  17. I know you'll enjoy the book, Bruce. I think it's a must-have for anyone considering the purchase of a Yasukuni blade.
  18. Slough's pg 104 and 105
  19. I've done the same, but if there's advance notice the end is near, I'll try to sell them myself. If not, I want her to sell them and spend the money on what she enjoys.
  20. MB recently listed this: https://nihontoantiques.com/project/hizen-masatsugu-daito-fss-882/
  21. Is the jiri an indication, or did he make several styles of those, too?
  22. Bryce, I've noticed he didn't always sign the same side of the blade, and not all had kao. For Example: https://www.aoijapan.net/tanto-osaka-ju-gassan-sadakatsu-kinsaku-kao/ https://www.aoijapan.net/tanto-kotaishi-denka-omamorigatana-motte-yotetsusyowa-8nen-12gatsu-kichijitsu-gassan-sadakatsu-saku/ Do you have any stats on those two differences? With gratitude, Dave
