  1. Here ya go Bruce.
  2. Well wishes Brian.
  3. Absolutely Bruce. Give me a few days as per cleaning schedule.
  4. No star, just Osaka Army Arsenal stamp.
  5. I have studied RJT Nagamitsu, there are more than a few blades that are not dated. I have a papered one with katakana and order numbers, Saka inspectors mark, mei, but no date.
  6. Agreed, better pictures would be nice to see the blade. Not sure what no kirimei means for this period. I also see damage by habaki... As said before, it is priced high for condition, that these photos allow us to see.
  7. Bias because I have a good one of his, Nagamitsu. Mantetsu blades have caught my eye a few times.
  8. Dear all, I just want to express my thanks to the board and its' members. Many have been helpful. I have learned some and continue to do so. Today, a board member has exemplified the willingness to assist if someone asks. In this regard and with reverence, a donation to the board has been made. Happy holidays to all!
  9. I recieved mine not too long ago; as well.
  10. Auto correct maybe, think "respectfully" was the word meant. Then again, it does matter who your passing it to and why.

Interesting, I was also looking right after the yakote and it seems flat, possibly rolling causing this visual effect.

Thanks Steffie, I would say polished/reshaped a little. No worries given age of the blade. The picture ending 8502 where the rolls are looks very close to boshi. A trained Togishi will be able to tell you better about restoration options if viable. Will see what better eyes and minds can say on my opinion.

Cant be 100% sure as I am still learning. But, judging by its general shape and period in question and the hamon in the kissaki aka boshi symmetry and spacing to the ha (sharp edge) points towards a reshape. Happens often to older blades, time takes it toll, especially ones with battle scars that were polished out. A few posts ago I asked for a more focused picture of this, as I had concern for reshaping and boshi run off. But it is hard to tell by that photo. A clearer shot of the same could tell us more.

Kissaki looks like it was reshaped at one time or another.

Interesting piece and good advice from all. Congratulations. I would have guessed 1450s easily from the start. But I am still learning. The photo ending in wa0006, is it possible to get a photo of the same (tip/kissaki) just a bit more focused if possible. Trying to get a good look at the boshi.
  16. Thanks Klaus, I have reached out to him.
  17. Thank you Moriyama san, never too late and always appreciated.
  18. Completely understand, both of our fields change quickly and we must stay on top of it. Yes, I am sure one of our members will nail this one easily.
  19. Yup, better late than never. Google translate is no help, other than mei, anyone want to give it a go... a full translation will add more money to a donation I was already making next week. On the front is Okayama Nagamitsu, kanteisho, shoshin,...., nthk seal, I believe. The date and measurements I am at loss...
  20. And the final product.
  21. Nothing major, just thinking forward. It is stored in a display case, with uv protection glass, and desecants. Thanks all.
  22. To be honest I am not 100% sure, there is inner shirasaya type wood wood lining, then metal, then something else and textured laquer. Will try to take a pick without the Fuchi on if needed?
  23. What is the preferred maintainence method(s) for a type 3/late 44 dark gray koshirae?
  24. Wolves or a lone wolf. If you have some for sale PM me.
