    Koshirae Project

    Absolutely Beautiful, Darcy!
  2. Very sad to hear this! RIP Michael!
  3. Hi Markus, What format do you want photos of nakago in? I have some very good ones to contribute.
  4. Mark, I have owned several of these over the years. The one on ebay is a fake. One only has to look at the poorly cut grooves in the blade to know this. The serial number and arsenal marks are wrong. The handle on the sword looks decent (still not original) but the rest is typical poor copy of an original. I hope these photos will help clear up any confusion. Bill Rannow www.artswords.com
  5. A dragon on one side and 2 small hi on the other. Very nicely executed.
  6. Thank you Joe and Morita san!
  7. A little larger photo might help. Bill Rannow www.artswords.com
  8. Hi All, I am having trouble translating the sosho next to the date on this sword. Would someone mind helping me with the translation? Thanks in advance! Bill Rannow www.artswords.com
  9. Sorry but it does not look legit to me. I should elaborate. It looks put together. The tsuba is missing a key feature and the fittings color would be a closer match.
  10. Late war side latch NCO. Real as it gets!
  11. They look great!
  12. How does one order a hard copy of these books?
  13. Craig was a wonderfull guy and he will be missed!

    Over-Oiling?

If I am concerned about shipping better swords I will oil the blade and wrap the blade with celephane wrap. This keeps quriouse fingers off the blade and the oil from the inside of the saya. It has worked well in a couple international shipping situations.
  15. Hi I also think chikei or inazuma.
  16. Very nice koshirae!
  17. Chris, Sorry that is where my software puts the water mark right in the center. Its an unfortunat but necisary to use watermarks on photos posted on the net. If you like I can email you an unwatermarked photo.
  18. You would need clearer photos. Lay it flat and take the photo out side on a bright cloudy day or in the bright shade.
  19. Even with the small photos you can see the work is textbook and signature also looks spot on. I have a wakizashi and katana by him. The hamon and signature are identical. Buy it!!
  20. Thanks guys! Here are some photos of the sword. Some one spent a lot of money to mount this one! http://artswords.com/a_very_nicely_mounted_gendai_by_bitchu_no_kuni_aoe_ju_yasutsugu_030515.htm
  21. Very nice swords Grant and Art! I love his work!
  22. Maybe I missed it but did you use a high carbon steel? Also was it a drop of water you put on after rubbing on the oil? Thanks!
  23. Hi All., I am looking for info on a gendai smith who signed Bitchu Kuni Aoe ju Yasutsugu. Thanks in advance!
  24. From the look of the habaki it looks like a Mantetsu.
  25. That is why its very important to watermark your photos when publishing them on the web.
