  1. Hi Guys, A month or so ago I bought I nice tanto with nice iron fittings. I no longer have many books on tosogu so I'm wondering if there is any information on this maker. Thanks in advance,
  2. As said, Its an aged fake.
  3. Peter, Did you take that photo? If so do you mind showing your photo set up?
  4. Neil you think we would have people tripping over each other to sell us these swords for 6-7k!
  5. The imperial household dirk and junior forestry dirk blade are traditional. The railway has an etch hamon.
  6. Hi All, I though I would share 3 dirks I picked up recently. The top is an Imperial Household dirk (probably the rarest dirk). The middle one is a National Railway dirk. and the bottom is a Junior Forestry dirk. Enjoy!
  7. I will buy all the Minotogawa shrine swords I can for 4000-5000!
  8. Great mounts. Better early mounts like this almost always have the cloth serute. A few months ago I bought a Gassan Sadakazu in this grade of mounts even has the raised blossom flower button unfortunately they are not mint.
  9. Berry lets see some more pics of this one!
  10. As Stephen said. It depends on the price.
  11. I would lean to Soden Bizen. Nice sword! Dont let any Gomez with a stone near it. The way I would play it is send it to Japan for shinza then decide on restoration through qualified crafstman.
  12. Nice restoration. I will ask the obvious question though, how much did this restoration cost? I have a few I would like to get restored if practical.
  13. Shannon good to see you on the msg board! Sorry I never got to see it after it was polished! Looks super!
  14. Very sorry and hope it is recovered! This has happen to me a few times at shows and it really stings!
  15. Hi Georg, If it were my sword I would be sending it to Japan, have a couple windows opened then have it looked at!
  16. Full polish with Tokubetsu hozon papers from the NBTHK for sure.
  17. Yes the late war sword sword on the top is pretty desirable and valuable! The Bottom nco is also pretty nice!
  18. The sword does look like it has pretty good potential. The Baltimore Antique arms show is next weekend and if your in the area of Timonium MD bring it by. I would be happy to have a look at it but I agree ultimately it would have to go to Japan.
  19. I have owned lots of these and variants. It is as stated above a fake. I also reported this one but ebay does not allow for a "this item is fake" in there reporting of an item format. Ebay is complicit and doesn't care because the item is still up. Lets just hope potential buyers would read this thread and be dissuaded from buying it.
  20. The basket weave above the fringe and the gold zigzag are biggest tells. There have been lots of fakes sold as real on ebay in the last couple years. Here are some good ones for comparison.
  21. Its real but not pre 1945.
