This mei does not look correct for mainline goto aka benjo, could be the 5th generation of the Ribei line, which would put it around 1800 to 1830.

The left is a lead cast semi-wadcutter, the right a jacketed hollowpoint, and neither would be used by any millitary in combat. The velocity of a typical 45 acp or 9mm is usually in the range of 900 to 1300fps, and would not damage steel like you are seeing here. And yes both of these would still make a round or ovoid hole.

Looks like casting seams where the two halves of a mold meet together. Like a line around the circumference of the ana halfway between the ura and omote.

Why would there be a random shallow drill mark on it? Makes me think it was a quick and dirty way to remove a defect.

Am I the only one seeing the seams inside the nakago and hitsu ana?
