  1. Well then I would like to thank you all for the varying opinions / It is a Wakasashi and had the usual shingunto furniture. All the best...Kris..
  2. Bruce, Good stuff his name was Detective Sargent Mack Woods / He owned the Shootist gun and knife shop on Broadway Avenue. He had been a going concern for over 40 years / I met him when i was 17 years old and now I am 54 / we spent many hours going through his collections. When I graduated college he talked me into joining the military and I did / after 20 years I came home and we resumed our close connection. I always admired him and am happy to say that he passed in his sleep and suffered little. Fun fact: He had Pablo Escobars brothers Bavarian satchel hanging on his east wall at the shop.......
  3. Thank you Mr. Grey, You may recall my posting a while back.
  4. This sword came in the usual Shin Gunto garb.
  5. Thank you so much it was from an old friend who owned a gun and knife shop in Tyler Texas / He passed away last July and left me a few swords and guns. He will be missed and I often shared the swords that came across his door step here. Again thank you for taking the time and sharing your hard won knowledge..
  6. I recently inherited a few swords and would like to ask for assistance in identifying the maker of this one..

  8. Also we are gun and sometimes antique sword , dagger, militatia sellers and usualy a few times a year one of us will come up with these swords as folks darken our doorsteps looking to make some cash off of the estates they were left with. This sort of thing does happen frequently And some neat stuff has come into play over the past 35 years. So when we come across these swords we post here for the expert oppinion,
  9. Thank you Peter, Sadly some person had at the blade with a wire brush. So the topic for the current owner and myself is if the sword deserves a polish and any sort of restorative efforts. All of this depends on the pedigree etc. Again thanks to all who made the effort. Kris.
  10. This Sword found its way into my Pals gun shop and the daughter of the veteran who brought it home from Japan had no information about it as always thank you for sharing your hard won knowledge
  11. Thank you all for the information and the great feedback as far as how to progress / as finances allow I will likely move slowly and will continue updating those who have reached out to me via PM as well as this thread. Cheers, Kris S..
  12. Thank you for the price range / it is good to know.
  13. Would anyone care to speculate a value for this item ? without papers and proper polish etc.
  14. Brian, That is certainly an option and thanks for bringing it to the table.
  15. Thank you both for the review and I am happy that it's a keeper if and when I have the work done I will post it here.
  16. I never realized how difficult it is to photograph a faded hamone. Hopefully these photos will give the viewer an idea as to what the story is with the blade. Thanks, Kris.
  17. Thank you Mark that is good news.I do most certainly appreciate your effort. Peter, that was a promotion at a shot show many years ago and the girls were signing posters. Bird busters was the new improved shotshell for that season.
  18. Ken, I will be happy to take more photos of the blade in different lighting / I will get them up By Tuesday or Wed of next week.
  19. Steve, That date allowed me to consider the relevance of everything around me. Strange how these objects provoke thoughts of mortality on more than one level. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and to everyone for that matter who has commented.
  20. If any one has the spare time will you take a look at these Mei Please. Thanks, Kris..
  21. Geraint, Thank you for the information / I have read a bit on the aspects of polishing and have found I think 100$ an inch with a 6 month wait and only if the Mei is right on. I have had the opportunity to own several Swords from Veterans estates and this one is far different from the rest. I almost always post what I come across here in one thread or another for ID and information. Thanks again for taking the time.
  22. Geraint, How late would you place these mounts ? and the blade is there any hope of determining the age from the Mei I posted ? Thanks again. Kris..
  23. Grey, Thank you for taking the time to comment, I respect your opinion.
