  1. Hi Yurie, Thanks for your message. I live near Den Haag. In the western part of the Netherland. My oldest daughter is studying in Maastricht. It's a beautiful city. Hope you enjoyed it. I will try to visit the antique Store next time i visit my daughter. All the best. Ed

  3. Looks really good! Wish I had that kind of skills.
  4. Chris, You did a nice job. The green color pillow is a good choice.
  5. Thank you all for your input. Interesting site. I had never heard of an Oni. Still a lot to learn.
  6. Richard, thank you! Interesting book. Regards, Ed
  7. It's such a beautiful technique and a pleasure to watch. So some extra photos. The menuki is also nice. A shishi dog and what looks like a human body with a dogs head. Is it also called a shishi dog?
  8. Thank you Jean!
  9. Anyone with a similar fuchi kashira and willing to share pictures? Thanks in advance.
  10. Thank you very much Ford for the detailed information!
  11. Thanks Chris!
  12. I have purchased a small wakizashi with some nice and unusual fuchi kashira. Just for sharing with you guys. It's made of three types of metal. I believe this is called mokume. Can't find similar sets to compare. Related to a school? Any information will be highly appreciated. Regards, Ed
  13. Beautiful pictures. Well done. Best regards, Ed
  14. Mark, The mei starts with: 備前 Bishu 國貞 Kunisada
  15. Date: januari 1897
  16. Artur,you did a really nice job!
  17. I don't think there is that much rotation speed to drill a hole. More a story to scare the enemy.
  18. Good question Conny. I'm stil not sure. I have inspected the blade again and the bump in the middle of the blade is not there. It's just an optical illusion caused by the triangle shape of the mune and shadows. Can't post new pictures at the moment. On vacation. All the best, Ed
  19. Hi Peter, To give something back to you. An article about Shakudo. https://core.ac.uk/download/pdf/81828368.pdf All the best, Ed
  20. Very nice drawing Chris! Do you also use photoshop for this?
  21. Chris, That's a nice photoshop trick! Maybe it's better to use my old Buck knife in the garden. Brian, "Uchiko the heck out of it" is maybe an option. Regards, Ed
  22. Hi Grey, Thank you for pointing that out. Makes sense. Case closed, lesson learned! A nice knife to use in the garden. Best regards, Ed
  23. Hi Jean, Thanks for your reply! I know you must not relate the cost to the purchase cost but if you guys think it's not that old it is not a wise choice. You guys are much knowledgeable and your opinion is highly appreciated! The only thing I know for sure is that it is made before 1945 and brought back by a soldier.
  24. Brian, thanks for your reply. I have seen soldier's tanto before but never with this type of blade shape. Don't think a window polish is a good investment. The cost of a window polish is higher than the costs of the tanto.
  25. Thank you guys for your input. I think the blade is definitely older than late Taisho. The pictures don't do justice to the blade. So I shot an other picture in natural daylight. The nakago has a much darker than what you see in the pictures of my first post. Hope this will help. Best regards, Ed
