  4. Hi Steve, At first, I had the same feeling about the kogatana and the saya. I have mixed feelings about the saya. It is obviously strange and it has the vibe of a tourist piece but on the other hand the fit is perfect. Why use a good kogatana to create such a saya. The poem intrigued me as well but I can't read even a part of it. Thanks for your reply. Regards, Ed
  5. I have picked up a kogatana. It was cheap and a bit of a gamble. The blade is nicely done and decorated but the shirasaya is odd. Never seen one before. Made for tourists? What do you guys think? All opinions are highly appreciated. Regards, Ed

  20. Colin, thank you very much. I wouldn't guessed the pine needles theme. Thanks Dale for posting other examples. I have noticed the faint Amida-yasuri. Almost like woodgrain. Although a tsuba with a simple design I like it a lot. A pleasure to watch. Thanks again guys for helping me out!
  21. I'm intrigued by this tsuba. I can't read the whole signature but it looks like yamayoshi. Please correct me if I'm wrong. The decoration consist of black spots and a few lines. At an angle the decoration is clearly visible. Does anyone know what these spots and line represents? Please feel free to comment.
