Hi Jean, Here is another Tsuba also with an extra hole in the SEPPA-DAI. http://www.militaria.co.za/nmb/topic/4480-masatsugus-tsuba/ Regards, Ed
  4. Hi Chris, You are absolutely right. The Tsuba with the monkey is beautifully crafted. Regards, Ed
  5. I like to share my search for information. It’s one way to give something in return for all the information and help I get from all of you. I really appreciate it. Regards, Ed

  9. Hi to all, Here you can download 2 nice books about Netsuke (for free). http://www.metmuseum.org/art/metpublications/search-publication-results?searchType=C&Tag=&title=netsuke&author=&pt=0&tc=0&dept=0&fmt=0 Regards, Ed
  10. Hi Stephen, I agree with you. I already talked to the seller that the price can't be determined by the provided pictures. If he wants to sell it he needs to provide better pictures or the price should be dropped dramatically. If the price is dropped it can be worth the gamble.
  11. BTW I don't think the seller wanted to fool me. He fully agreed with posting pictures. He offered me the following deal: ask members of the forum for a fair selling price and take 10 percent off for all the trouble and confusion. Sounds fair but now the big question guys. What's a fair price? Regards, Ed
  12. Thanks to all. I have contacted the seller and he is in shock. He always thought it was a Gassan blade. What will be a fair selling price. Regards, Ed
  13. Not the best picture. If needed I can get a better picture tomorrow. Hope this will explain more. Regards, Ed
  14. Hi Marius, I don't have a picture of the other side. I will ask the seller. Regards, Ed
  15. Ray, As stated in the earlier posts, the Tsuka and de Saya are not old. I don't think the blade is tired. Just poor pictures. Allan, I am also confused. Hope someone can clear it up. If the blade isn't Gassan I pass. Regards, Ed
  16. Hi John, If you already have restored the stock of a antique gun than a Tsuka must be not a problem. I think not that you should restore it. It's a fine piece of history. Enjoy it. Regards, Ed
  17. Thanks to all. I wait for more opinions. Regards, Ed
  18. John, The basic shape of a Tsuka may be looks easy to build but I think it is not that easy. The shape and style needs to fit the blade and the wrapping is much more difficult than it looks. Take a look at the following site http://www.tsukamaki.net/index.html Regards, Ed
  19. Hi Erwin, This wakizashi was bought at the militaria show in Houten. Regards, Ed
  20. And one more. Regards, Ed
  21. I just received the pictures. Not the best quality but the seller is using his tablet. Hope this helps
  22. Hi Brian, That's exactly what I wanted to know. I have tried to find as much as possible about this school but there is not much for sale. I'll wait for the pictures. Thanks for your reply.
  23. Hi Ken, I apologize for the fact that I didn't understand you correctly. English is not my native language and writing and reading can sometimes be hard. Sorry for misunderstanding you. I hope to receive the pictures soon and maybe you still want to help me further. Best regards, Ed
  24. Hi Ken, Sorry but I don't expect from Nmb members to say yes or no without pictures. I only want to know if I should proceed. The fact that I can't find unsigned Dewa Gassan blades for sales does not give me a good starting point for reference. I have sent an email to the seller for good pictures and his permission to post them. Regards, Ed
  25. Hi Ken, I don't buy this blade without seeing it. But the problem is if a Shinsa team doesn't detect a problem with the blade how can I detect them as a novice collector. I ask for pictures and hope that the quality is good enough for the needed advice. Regards, Ed
