  1. Steve Thanks for the photos! Whether it's a sword tassel or not, I think it's not for IJA/IJN. More like something from Manchukuo, people told me it was on a Manchukuo sword.
  2. Dan $605 is not bad at all.But the price of NCO IS dropping for sure.
  3. Bruce Don made very nice repro ,both brass or iron,$25 each. Don Schlickman 1470 Wood St. Dubuque IA. 52001-4256 E-mail: dfsjpn@aol.com Phone: (Home) 563-556-8496 Phone: (Cell) 563-580-4220
  4. It's hard to tell the Kanji after 大, you can compare it with other 2 (大物& 大持)from 藤原兼永,both are not really like this Kanji. Kind of like 庸 ,but doesn't make any sense.
  5. 兼丈 Kanetake Civilian Name 福田丈太郎 Jotaro
  6. Bruce You're right,Neil's Tassel does look like Railway guard tassel
  7. Neil That's a very cool one! Thanks for sharing! What is this Tassel for?
  8. Malcolm I would like to see some example of Manchukuo or Chinese Nanking Puppets government 's sword tassel.I'm NOT talking about Protepee style sword knot for Western-style sword.
  9. Malcolm This tassel cord looks kinda like Kendo Armour Helmet cords or the cords put around traditional wood Katana Saya, but it has the fringe(I'm not sure how to call the bottom parts of tassel),so make me wonder it's a tassel rather than cords.
  10. Well, wonder how she reacts if finds out she lost a few hundred bucks for her sell.
  11. Thomas Thanks for the link, but the tassel I post does not really look like the tassel in that photo.I don't think it used by the Japanese officer. Anyone have info of Manchukuo 滿洲國 or Chinese Nanking Puppets government 南京偽政府 sword tassel ?
  12. Stephen I don't think this is a sword bag tassel.Sword bag tassel is much narrower than this one and more like thin rope shape. This one is flat, almost same wide as the IJA tassel. It's not IJA tassel for sure. But,could it be Manchukuo 滿洲國 or Chinese Nanking Puppets government 南京偽政府 tassel ?I can't find any photo/Info of those tassel.
  13. John I don't think it's an IJA tassel either. I just never saw Manchukuo 滿洲國 or Chinese Nanking Puppets government 南京偽政府 tassel before.
  14. My friend got one Tassel in China, the craftsmanship is very good, but missing the knot, look like made of cotton instead of silk, the original color should be blue 。People who give him the tassel told him it is a Manchukuo 滿洲國 tassel. Did anyone saw these before?
  15. Aaron As Steve and I said Your sword is modified(most likely wartime work)Type 95 NCO blade cut the partial tang to fit into type 98 handle. The photos Dave posts are the 造兵刀,not yours.
  16. Aaron No need to clean the tang, it should have one or two arsenal mark, but nothing special.
  17. Steve Maybe keep his dignity(尊厳を保つ)is a better way to say it.
  18. Kai Gunto is 97,Army Gunto is 94 or 98.
  19. Dave The photo That I post awhile ago and the other photos you post are 造兵刀 Zohei-to, a lot of people confused them as 村田刀 Murata to. It has arsenal made blade with blood grove but no Ser# on the blade, use type 98 mount. The OP sword is modified(look like wartime work) NCO blade cut the partial tang to fit into type 98 handle, like many remount Koto. Here is the link about 造兵刀 http://ohmura-study.net/206.html
  20. Steve True!Bill's Copper handle 95 also has re-stamped Ser# on the blade near Habaki.
  21. Grey You're right, this sword Jason post is a fake. But, never say never about WW2 Gunto, in fact,I have an NCR Gunto made by 兼義 Kaneyoshi with numbered Habaki.
  22. 藤紋 日本の公家を代表する藤原家および全国に散らばった藤原一族末裔の家紋として広まった。公家の頂点摂関家の九條家、二條家、一條家が藤紋を掲げている。 藤原 Fujiwara Family crest
