BANGBANGSAN replied to IJASWORDS's topic in Military Swords of Japan
Just noticed One of my Copper handle 95 scabbard had these gold finish over the original army brown paint, most of the gold came off but you can still tell some the left on it. -

Yes ,didn't have to have the mint condition Gunto, it looks fine ,as long as it's real WW2 sword. -

Leather hanger for Type 95 Cavalry 騎兵用?
BANGBANGSAN replied to BANGBANGSAN's topic in Military Swords of Japan
Thomas This is not for the Chinese Type 65. Not only becauseT65 has two rings of the leather piece on the scabbard, the one I showed has one ring on the leather piece, and it has an open space that allows the ring on the scabbard to go through. Also, the leather parts are too big for T65 and T32. Here is the photo of T65's.PLA might have copied the design of Type 95's hanger though. -
I found some photos of the leather hanger for Type 95, it might be for cavalry use. It's a little too big for Type 32. This style hanger is on Fuller's book P40. Nick has post price sheet of cavalry use Type 95 on here https://www.warrelics.eu/forum/Japanese-militaria/short-development-history-type-95-gunto-676112-19/ post #181

BANGBANGSAN replied to Kaz S's topic in Military Swords of Japan
It looks like 造兵刀 Zohei-To to me.That blade is in very poor shape. -
Neil Can you demonstration how it works?
-
Dave These two Type 32 do look nice but they are not mine. I use to have one refurbished 32甲 still has the leather spacer but no finger ring loop. Here you go.

I think I saw it somewhere that says the black painted type 32 were factory refurbished。

I’m sorry guys, I mixed up GI and GEI .偽銘 should be GIMEI instead of GEIMI.Thanks Jean for point it out.😀
-
They use real gunto fitting, relic the tang after carving the Gei Mei. Sometimes they carving the Mei on the real Japanese Mu Mei blade, sometimes use the Long Quan blade.
-
Here are some Gei Mei from Chinese Long Quan 龙泉, same guys make Mantetsu Gei Mei,not perfect, but they sure can fool some people.
-
True, especially for the copper handle NCO sword, mismatch or no number on the scabbard are more than match ones.
