村田刀&造兵刀 are two different things. http://ohmura-study.net/911.html Maruta to 造兵廠刀 (軍人会館呼称) 一般俗称は「造兵刀」。

Like Thomas and John said ,It should be a normal 造兵刀, nothing too special, these swords showed up all the time. @Bruce Pennington Major Bitō's (Nagoya Army Arsenal Seki Part Factory manager) account of recollection is as follows. "The shape and the size applied to the forging sword correspondingly in general. A blade uses army sword steel (C1.0%-1.1%). Fire structure one-piece-no-forging fabrication was carried out. And curvature was attached and a tempering in oil (840 degree Centigrade) and tempering were returned (530 degrees). According to the forging sword, it polished good. Although it does not break for a tempering in oil, there is no tempered line(Hamon). Sword material is also army sword steel and cannot hold a decisive difference with Type 95 only by this explanation other than a polish.

Examples of swords for which a registration certificate is not issued are semi-forged military swords (with cherry blossoms and anchors engraved on the stem) and foreign-made swords such as sabers made in the Showa period, and are not issued a registration certificate. . However, please note that not all military swords are necessarily registered because some military swords have artistic or antique value and have been remade as military swords. Also, please be assured that the sword will not be immediately confiscated on the spot even if the registration certificate is not issued. There seems to be exceptions for even semi-forged swords that have been relics of relatives, so please inquire at each prefectural board of education.

Bruce Found this 興南彩券(Konan Lottery Ticket)issued by Japanese Occupation Malaya(馬來軍政部 Malai Military Administration Department), sold between 1942-1945. 興南should be contraction of 振興南洋 Revitalize Nanyang region(Southeast Asia, including Malaya, Singapore, Philippines, Indonesia, etc). It seems it's a part of the 興南一誠 movement. -

I think IJN use Type 0 for the 1940 model (零式艦上戦闘機 Mitsubishi A6M Type 0 carrier fighter).IJA use Type 100 for the model of the same year(百式司令部偵察機 Mitsubishi Ki-46,Type 100 Command Reconnaissance Aircraft)。 So, If I have to choose between Type 100 and Type 0, I'll pick Type 100 for that reason, it's an Army sword. But I found out more people know what sword I'm talking about when I use Type 3 than the other names.

Sometime just hard for people to change what they prefer or used to. Rinji, Type 3, Type 100, Type 44, NLF sword, whatever you feel like to call it, as long as we all know what is it. Like Paratrooper bayonet. Most of people call it type 2 (after the Type 2 rifle),some call it Type 100 ,some call it Paratrooper bayonet, the other call it test No.1 Knife/Bayonet .But the official name looks like it should be 試製一式短劍 Test Type 1 short sword.

群水刀 use 群水鋼Gunsui steel made by 群水電化工業 Gunsui Electrification Industry, it was developed earlier than Mantetsu's It's very good steel for Gunto. Use google translate on this page http://ohmura-study.net/208.html,it explains all. -
