    One is the Type 95 NCO sword. The other one is NOT a Type 98 officer sword, but a Territory-made sword for the puppet army. The tang should be very crude like the photos I post.

    Mal Yes, the smith is 吉原國家, he use 宣威 when he worked in Tokyo first.

    John The small 関 mark is 名古屋陸軍造兵廠熱田兵器製造所関工場 Nagoya Army Arsenal Atsuta Arms Factory Seki Factory's inspection mark. 名古屋陸軍造兵厰 熱田製造造所 Besides make Veihecals, Cannons, Rifles,Machineguns, Ammunition etc , they also make 九五式軍刀（Type 95 NCO Sword)、造兵刀(Zohei-to)、鍛鍊刀(Forged Blade).

    Date side of tang--Grey/Blue paint 930 Smith side of tang--Green paint ア八0, Grey/Blue paint A 九三0。 ア八0（80）should be the assembly parts number. A903 should be the Nagoya arsenal rack number.

    Here are two Type 98 made at 春日制造所 under Kokura Arsenal， both dated 1945.5,made by two different smith，文忠&義則。

    Agree,it should be made in China for the puppet troops.Here is another very similar one with 顺 mark on the tang.

    The Kanji 造兵廠 is not very common, but it pops up from time to time. I have a few Zōhei-tō have these Kanji on the tang.

    It has 造兵刀 Zōhei-tō blade.The mark 造兵廠 セ indicates the blade was made in 小倉陸軍造兵廠 第二製造所 Kokura Army Arsenal Second factory.

    Maybe when 京 used by 板橋監督班 (Itabashi Supervisory Unit it) it pairs with encircled イ（I), when 京 used by 京都宇治製造所（ Kyoto Uji Factory) it pairs with encircled K?

    敏正作。 TOSHIMASA (敏正), Shōwa (昭和, 1926-1989), Gifu – “Toshimasa” (敏正), real name Asai Eikurō (浅井栄九郎), born January 15th 1886, student of Watanabe Kanenaga (渡辺兼永), he worked as guntō smith and died October 25th 1958。

    @Bruce Pennington I agree with Thomas,both kanji are 京。京 mark is also used by 東京第二陸軍造兵廠 京都宇治製造所（Tokyo 2nd Army Arsenal Kyoto Uji Factory).Maybe the circled K is also means Kyoto Uji Factory?

    John This Document is from October 1945. It showed the number of weapons the Allies confiscate in Japan(Not from IJA&IJN). The edge weapons are Nihonto 627000 Gunto 50500 Saber 128800 Bayonet 473300 Others(Naginata,Yari ,etc)279300
