  1. It was made in Tokyo first arsenal, around 1943. The fitting could be made by the Ijima sword shop.
  2. You are right Thoms, talking about the Family name, the Chinese use 古 as well.
  3. 别上 to my eyes
  4. @Bruce Pennington That hot stamp is using 篆體字 永(upper right) 林(lower right) 作(upper left) 坊(lower left) 永林作坊 Yong Lin's workshop in Guang Dong China
  5. 古成勇 All these are made by 永林作坊
  6. Gunzoku 軍屬 caps
  7. It looks like a fantasy piece to me, waiting for more opinions.
  8. I think the hat that guy wearing is not an official army cap. Just the Army-style 軍屬/civilian cap. Note the hats the two girls on the left are wearing, the photo was taken in 1943 at 福岡。
  9. Not only copper handle overhyped but the Type 95 is also overhyped. Even though I have a quite few in my collection, still think copper should be 2-3K. Regular brass guard 7-1000, same condition Iron guard 200 less. But that's just me.
  10. That hot stamp could be 篆體字 永(upper right) 林(lower right) 作(upper left) 坊(lower left) 永林作坊 Yong Lin's workshop
  11. I would say it's a modern Chinese repro
  12. John Can you share the photos of the rest of your Mantetsu?
  13. 鈴,one of the inspection mark for Type 30 bayonet, this one could be the inspection team’s (鈴木) name. There are other kanjis as well,菅,石,原,松,齋etc. @Bruce Penningtonthe 和 mark on the type 30 bayonet has no connection with the ones on the 偽軍刀. There are also the W mark and big M an mark on the pommel of the early type30, and it doesn't look like the M/W mark on the Guntos.
  14. 王守仁 also referred to as 王陽明 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wang_Yangming
  15. Bruce The hot stamp of Kanezane has a very similar shape. Collectors in China called it "Little turtle"小乌龟。
  16. 兼俊 Kanetoshi, Feb 1945, star stamped in later brown metal scabbard Rinji mount.
  17. 関住森俊治作 Sekiju Mori Toshiharu Saku
  18. 昭和16(1941)年8月,昭久 Akihisa ,no star,in Rinji mount.New on the market.
  19. I doubt this one starts with the star. Please compare the mei with the one in Slough's book, same smith same year, and month, but clearly with no star. The one with the star is in China, which has many guntos and bayonets modified, just to sale higher prices. By Nick " 1942 July: The Army called upon each prefecture to solicit volunteers through these unions, who may be interested in getting into sword production. These messages from the military originated in the First Tokyo Army Arsenal and got passed onto the union through the Trade and Industry Dept. of the Prefectural government, and then from the union to its member smiths." https://www.warrelics.eu/forum/Japanese-militaria/rikugun-jumei-tosho-rjt-star-stamped-blades-documentation-789067-6/ Post#54 From Ohmura: 陸軍は将校用軍刀の増産を図るため、昭和17年3月頃から各都道府県庁を通じ、そして各県は更に各地の鍛冶組合・金物組合或いは 刀工に軍への刀剣の製作納入希望者を募った。
  20. 兼俊 Kanetoshi June 1941, looks like the star was added since the RJT sword won't have the star until 1942.
  21. John It said from 民间(Civilian/Civilian group).I also state NOT from IJA&IJN.That means didn't count the Gunto from both Army &Navy.I would say maybe that 50K 軍刀 more like 軍屬刀 Gunzoku to.
  22. This is one of the sword made in China for the puppet army .
