Flying Dutchman

I'm Dutch family man, living and working in the Netherlands.

Mine English or Japanese is not so good.

but I try my best to communicate.

my love for Nihonto started at very young age (Samurai movies)

But I also hated Japan, because of the ww2 past.

My grandfather was KNIL Sergeant  fighting the Japanese army in Indonesia

But my Grandfather was captured and held in a prison camp, in Indonesia.

He was put to work at the Birma railway, it was pure torture.

He was helping the allied Dutch forces to dismantle the prison camp and get after the prison guards. 

When my Grandfather died, he left me a big old wooden travel box.

It was locked and i didn't had the key

last year I opened the box and saw military clothes and blankets.

But in these blankets I find 9 swords? Japanese? Samurai?

I didn't know, and googled the swords,

I know some of the swords are Shin and Kai Gunto.

But thats all I know, I hope you can Help me!

So I prepare some posts with much pictures.
