  1. Hey Brandon, i don't know your level of training , however at those lengths you should bare in mind the weight of the sword if you will use it for iai. I learnt the hard way training with a 1400 grams sword for 9 years , gave me all sorts of issues with tendonitis etc...my current sword weighs 1200 grams. Its a good weight for iaido and tameshigiri. Just my few thoughts Jeremy
  2. I have a shinsakuto i train with. Would the oil have an effect on the structural integrity of the tsuka over time?
  3. Selling this Muromachi tanto from aoi art. Selling for what i paid for it. Size is 21.3cm. Mumei with koshirae. More pics to come when i get home in the next few days. Cheers Jeremy
  4. I totally agree here. Coming from a fellow toyama ryu and Nakamura ryu guy, not much battodo i can see there either. It does take skill to do what shes doing though.Jeremy
  5. I tried asking to send my sword to Japan via usagiya sword shop but they're too busy to take on my project. Plus the hassles of sending a sword into Japan
  6. I'd be interested to know as well. I want to get a bo hi cut in my shinsakuto. I've emailed a few people but no one has ever gotten back to me. Jeremy

    Gendai tsuba

Hi Ed, I would prefer mokko style , about 4mm thick at the seppa dai. No more than about 120 grams in weight, less the better. Cheers Jeremy

    Gendai tsuba

Thanks Ford . I should've been a bit more clear in my post . I'm actually looking for something to mount a shinsakuto I have at the moment. So maybe something in the ¥30-40000 ballpark

  15. I've just started becoming interested in samurai jingasa hats. What is the most important thing to look out for to ensure the genuine age of the hat and overall quality?
  16. I'm not sure about yoshindo selling outside of Japan, I can't comment on that. I've bought a couple of shinsakuto over the years from swordstore and a steel iaito. I think he only deals with the Kimura smiths in Kumamoto. I had only one bad and two good experiences buying these swords. if you want to know more PM me
  17. Definitely not an easy task. I've tried myself for years albeit with nothing more than camera phones, still can't make them look good
  18. Thanks Ken! I've always heard about rice glue, never tried it. Time to give it a go.
  19. Last year I had Fred Lohman repair my saya that had split with a samegawa wrap. Now in our cold dry weather the glue or resin they use to glue the same gawa is starting to peel back at the wrap seam. What's the best epoxy to use to glue it back down? Thanks in advance Jeremy
