Awesome I was worried it was something serious. Would I be able to get some help with a full translation? I am guessing Mano Kuniyasu from other example but there are some questionable characters in there.

How would I check for a weld job? Any telltale signs? I'l try to get better pics of the nakago.
-
There is a really curvy line (doesn' go through and is not straight so no crack) in this picture. Near to where the polish ends and the nakago patina begins.

Thanks I'm looking for the stamps origin now. Is it normal/Okay to have a ware like that in the area under the habaki?

Hey guys I finally got my hands on a water quenched showato. I believe it is made by Mano Kuniyasu. Let me know what you think it looks pretty flawless except for what looks like a ware or something from under the Habaki section. Interestingly there is a diamond punch out on the end of the Nakago.

But ya I am shooting for a middle of the road quality if possible nothing fancy as long as there is no edge damage. Hope I'm not buying more than I can chew with this.

Sorry I meant 1600 USD not Canadian (the exchange is pretty rough for us so my budget reflects that XD) I thought emura's were pretty high quality?
-
Hi, does anyone have a traditional (gendaito or otherwise) blade in gunto mounts for sale? My budget is around 1600, looking more for good condition than a high Smith ranking. Thanks!

A prayer and some blessed oil eh? I hope its okay with western stuff XD
-
I hope not. If someone did try to grind in that area would it make such a stain and ruin the temper? what does a temper ruining heat form grinding usually look like?
-
ya after oiling I cannot see it anymore... must have seen some weird cleaner at some point...
-
Does it make blueish colors, maybe gasoline was used? Don't think a dremel would make a circular burn mark hopefully.

Hi guys I have this odd blue stain on the tip of a showato.. really hard to see but it's a circular stain near the tip but not on the edge. After oiling the sword I can't find it anymore but I am perplexed at what it might be? It was on both sides but not the same shape.
-
Sorry guys somone went and bought it ahead of me while the person I was in contact was away bummer I was dead set on buying it too.
-
Would a sword with this kind of tempering be brittle for lack of soft mune?
-
Would that be a fatal flaw if it was the clay option? It sounds serious.
-
Ya it's odd, is there any structural disadvantage for having the temper reach near the mune? I should put more research I to this style I'm used to a clear separation of hardened and soft style.
-
Is it a common style from that Smith?
-
I'm not familiar with hitatsura bit looking at pictures it matches pretty well.
-
Hi, I am perplexed by the hamon on this one. the sellers pictures are not the best but it seems to by muneyaki? could it be a retemper and is there any way to positively identify that?

A top notch job for a top notch sword for sure!

Mailing Swords To The Usa From The Uk

I labeled mine as "Japanese tachi" and had it picked up by parcelforce at the UK guys house via online parcelmonkey.uk about a year ago. No issues.
