  1. Thanks, I was only able to find this Mitsunobu smith on the Showato listings on Jinsoo Kim's id's. was he added to the RJT program later on? it seems like a well made sword, for a previous novice showato guy.
  2. Hey guys, Picked up this gendai recently. Any thoughts on it and some translation?
  3. Okay, thank you for your opinion guys!
  4. Here is the full write up they did. Has aoi art sold swords with hagire before without mentioning it?
  5. As long as it is nothing fatal I am happy. Here is the original aoi art picture from the first owner.
  6. Wierd looking mark, it seems to be on one side only and I show a picture with light shining in it. I would like an unbiased opinion though if it's just a ware or not.
  7. Its wakizashi sized of not a typo which is fine, I'm more worried about fake signatures or his "komonjo" specials that are from china
  8. Hey guys, interesting sword for me having a shinshinto blade in really nice gunto fittings. But considering it's from komonjo I want to be safe that its not gimei or worse, let me know what you guys think. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F163197852060 Thanks
  9. Sorry for the poor angle, I am getting a "masu" *** "saku" from my limited knowledge.
  10. I tend to use Tuff Glide standard myself since I have it around. any concerns with that stuff on Nihonto?
  11. I see your point, it' a nice temper on it anyhow. Also I believe there is a connection with the diamond mark. Both mano masayasu and this (I assume mano) kuniyasu Smith uses these on their personal made swords instead of a student (thanks translation forum). Both seem to have made the 1941 exhibition which is nice. Does anyone know how the seat system works for ranking?
  12. good point, luckily that seems to be the only thing on the ha, I am just trying to find out if tate ware like this effect the structure of the blade and make it weaker, some sources say merely cosmetic, while some say it is disastrous on the ha (could I be mistaking it for another flaw that they are discussing?).
  13. I have just been reading too much about flaws, too used to oil quenched where any flaw is usually really bad (But then again not much to look at even if they are pretty uniform). I can't seem to find the answer on how severe ware in the yakiba like this is or how common it is in good serviceable swords.
  14. Looking at Mano Masayasu's Soshinmei in Slough's it looks pretty similar to this Kuniyasu.
  15. Hi guys one more mystery after my cleaning of it. There is this weird z shaped mark in one side only. It has a bit more depth than a scratch but I didn' think ware could form in this shape (lines or circles usually).
  16. Thanks for the tips guys, cleaned it again with 99% isopropyl and tissues followed up with microfiber >tuff glide > microfiber. as for the diamond mark there may be a lead on the translation forum, another member has seen them on Mano Masayasu gendaito so It may be a Bishu only affair. I wonder if the two Mano's knew each other or worked together?
  17. I believe there may be a connection with Mano Kuniyasu/Masayasu. odd that they are separate grades on the Toko smith reference though. same person or closely related perhaps?
  18. Will do, thanks. Now on to try and find put about this diamond stamp.
  19. Hi all I can draw from this so far is "bushu Kuniyasu" would anyone be able to translate the me better. Also there is an odd diamond stamp at the end of the nakago if anyone has seen that before and knows what it means?
  20. Alrighty pure Iso it is. Does anybody have any comments in the weird mark in the ha shown here? Anybody have a better idea on the nakago translation?
  21. oh, I hope the WD won't damage anything, will it? Is Isopropyl 99% good for cleaning the blade of any remaining WD? hmmm, what are the differences between coarse grain and ware openings? is it that Ware reach the core steel and look like dark cracks?
  22. The pictures were taken after I cleaned it up with some wd40 followed by a thin coat of tuff glide and microfiber. It's weird because it looks shallow (shines in the light unlike the ware on the nakago, I have seen) could it be course grain? I am hoping it is not a serious problem it being in the Ha.
  23. Okay guys another question. Does this look like an open grain or shallow pitting? It does not seem deep like the earlier ware so is this a ware in the ha?
  24. Double Post*
  25. It looks like a pretty good blade. The tag says the first characters read "bishu" but I don' think they do. Anybody recognize which Kuniyasu this might be?
