  1. Hi Stephen. The fuchi and kashira have no detail, just plain. Menuki are civillian and look like shi dogs. The tsuba does not look very old at all and is iron. The ito is dark green. My feeling is a custom job for a rather short Japanese officer. The tsuka is not very big and the whole thing has a smallish feel about it. Chris D.
  2. The nagasa is just shy of 21 inches. Has quite a large sori. Chris D.
  3. Thank you Joe. The kissaki has a boshi/turnback so it's not broken.
  4. Thank you very much for that John. When I look at the HARU character I can see it now, just could not before ! I am wondering if war time showato or gendai are rare in the wakizashi form ? The nagasa on this blade is just shy of 21 inches. Chris D.
  5. Hi all. Had a bit of a go at this one but can't get it all. It is a wakizashi in civillian/gunto mounts. SEKI JU MORI TOSHI ? SAKU Thank you in advance. Chris D.
  6. Hello Greg, the blade is online and I don't have it in hand. As a relative newbie, I don't have the books/experience to determine this. I found a signature online of a Juyo TERUKANE and with my limited experience consider the two to be different. This is the sword I found online. http://www.samuraisword.com/nihontodisplay/JUYO/Terukane/ Regards Chris D.
  7. Hello Ray, thank you for your response. Gimei I would think considering he was a famous smith ! Chris D.
  8. Hello all. Wondering if anyone could give me a translation on this blade. Thanks in advance. Apologies, forgot my name. Chris D.
  9. Hi all. Thank you for your previous help regards shinsakuto. Just wondering what people may think of this wakizashi ? Bizen Oka Yama Ju Kuni Mune dated Kanbun two nen eight gatsu (1662?). Maybe first or second gen Bizen Kuni Mune ? Thank you in advance. Chris D
  10. Thank you once again. Yes, that is the decision I have come to. It also seems a little odd that it is listed in Australia but will be sent from Japan !
  11. Thank you once again. I did find this one by MASAFUSA dated the same year, 1975. There is quite a difference ! I think I may defer on this example !
  12. Hi all. Thank you for your replies thus far. It seems a bit odd that a RJT would retain his art name from the war and continue to make swords with this name up until 1975 at least ? Chris D
  13. Hi all. Just wondering if anyone has any info on this smith ? _ da masa hide? kitae kore? made in 1975. Thank you in advance. Chris D.
