  1. Chris, I initially made all of the correct statements to my wife as I never would talk down to her in public. Later when we got home I just asked her where she bought it from so I could validate my concerns. I eventually had to tell her the truth because it I hadn't she would have continued to try to buy Nihonto things for me. She previously got me a gift of an Edo era hat. But yea, it's never a good idea to insult your spouse. Warm Regards, Jesse
  2. Folks, thank you for your input and confirming my suspicions. The seller (JP_Yorozuya) as 100% positive feedback, which is suspect. Linda (my wife) bought it around the 8th of December for just shy of $175.00. He has since lowered most of his tsubas down to $124.99. Yorozuya posted it with this: TSUBA Samurai Sword guard Japanese Katana Blade antique Art Edo Collectible Original/Reproduction: Antique Original Region of Origin: Japan I will be contesting this with Ebay. I had a very nice conversation with my wife about the dangers of Ebay and Nihonto items (she's an awesome spouse and supports my addiction so I have that going for me). Thanks for all who responded. Warm Regards, Jesse
  3. Good morning, my wife bought a tsuba for me for xmas. Unfortunately I think she was taken by false advertising as I think this tsuba is a chinese knock-off. Can anyone validate my concerns?
  4. My wife and I are going. I'm looking forward to meeting some of the other members here.
  5. Ben, I use a pliable metal to fill in gaps on the tsuba and then file it smooth. But, being new to the Nihonto world, Grey's advice is the best.
  6. Noah, where in SC? I live just outside of Charlotte NC and have family that reside in Myrtle Beach SC.

  13. I bought 2 Tsuba stands and they are well made and look great. Just waiting for Tobias to finish the 2 sword stands and I'm really looking forward to getting them. They look so nice that I will be moving and displaying some blades into the living room. Currently they all reside in my office. If you are on the fence here, just jump and buy some, you won't be disappointed. Warm Regards, Jesse

  18. Jeremy, One type of sword that I collect are the Zatoichi (sword cane) kind. I have a couple but the nicest one is a Kinmichi from the early 1600's that has a reversed curve. I have been learning from the people on the NMB since 2016, and this is a great place to learn from individuals who have been at this a lot longer than I have. Warm Regards, Jesse
  19. Would you be willing to ship it to the U.S.? Jesse
  20. Hoanh, great sentence and yes it feels great. I have bought from Nick in the past and he a pleasure to do business with.
  21. PM sent.
  22. Mark, thanks for doing this. I already have my tickets and hotel reservations made. Jesse
  23. I recently purchased a Naginata from AOI and I was not charged a separate shipping fee. I paid on Apr 29 and received it on Jun 15th. I have purchased 5 items from them and they have always been pleasant to deal with. Jesse
  24. I've purchased a Tanto, Naginata (just got it, about 45 days total to get here.), Yari, and a Wak from AOI-Art. The only issue I have had with them was on my last order (the Naginata). They did not send it to my current address (which was on the order) but sent it to a previous address of mine. Thankfully, the old house was only 45 minutes from my current location and the people living in the home were extremely nice and returned the packages to me.
  25. @Bruce, Yes, Shigetsugu seemed to have been very prolific in the mid 1600's.
