  1. Thank you!
  2. Hi guys! Recently bought at Japanese auction Gunbai. I will be grateful for any help in translation and your assessment of the item. Thank you
  3. If it is the right version, we can suppose that the blade was made earlier?
  4. If this version is true that means that the blade is made earlier?
  5. Tanto sharpness. The strange thing is that form kissaki 5-7 cm of the blade is medium sharp but the rest of the blade is dull. May be they saved money on polishing?
  6. Could it be late Edo? The auction description was as follow: A TANTO IN KOSHIRAE, EDO Japan, Edo period (1615-1868) The blade: The slender, gently curved blade with unokubi-zukuri, ihori mune and a short ridge on both sides. The hamon is toran in nioi-deki with ko-ashi. The hada is ayasugi-muji, ending in omaru boshi. The mumei (unsigned) nakago with one mekugi-ana, the tip is haagari. The mounting: The sentoku hamidashi tsuba (with two open hitsu-ana), the fuchi, kashira, kogai, kozuka koiguchi, and kojiri each worked in silver takazogan and hammered decoration. The menuki depicting birds. The rayskin tsuka with a black silk tsuka-ito. The saya is lacquered in roiro and red with butterflies and a peony bloom. NAGASA 29 cm, LENGTH 46 cm (total) Condition: Good condition with minor wear and traces of use, the blade with scattered tiny fukure and shallow scratches. The mounts with few minuscule nicks. Provenance: Hungarian private collection.
  7. Tried to do my best. May be it helps? Another question. Tanto is not sharp. Is it normal?
  8. I post more photos. May be it helps? Thank you anyway!
  9. Hi, guys again. Could you attribute this tanto to school, Edo period? What the item on fuchi/kogatana means? Will be grateful for any comments
  10. Hello! I again asking for your opinion about my recent acquisition tanto/aikuchi. Nagasa length is 29 cm. No info available except is Edo.
  11. Thank you guys! Could you say me something about tsuba?
  12. Additional photos
  13. Hello everybody, could you say me that this blade is koto? The blade comes from a reputable auction. As they made the mistake in the description saying that nagasa is 69 cm (in fact 60) I doubt their assessment of the blade attributed to koto. I understand that koshirae is of much later period and has no particular value. I ask you for help in the blade assessment. If you could tell me some words about tsuba tooI will be grateful.
  14. Thank you again. The price is not high but its auction. Overall it is not bad for the current price. If price goes higher I’ll stop.
  15. Hi, can not find Kunimori mei in the page of Uda school. The last kanji (Mori) is very rare. Could you help me again?
  16. Thank you. I understood. So finally I have my lesson Thank you again.
  17. I’m trying:) I’m only asking questions about the blades that unclear for me. It is part of my learning. IMHO
  18. Thank you again. In the description they attribute it to Edo period. Is it mistake?
  19. Thank you very much for your expertise. The declared nagasa is 37 cm and total length 61 cm. Therefore may be it was really shortened? I post additional photos.
  20. One more, guys! Will be grateful for response. Is it really Yoshii Yoshinori saku Yukan Japan, the blade Nanboku-chō period (1336-1392)?
