  1. Yes, that's it. Just looking for some comparison betweeen the two. So any addition pictures would be great. Cheers, Charlie S.
  2. Looking for another example of a early army pinned fittings with smooth paint with the extra hanger. It is referred to as "General" mounts in the Dawson book. However, the example in the Dawson is the later type paint. The smith is Ishido Teruhide for the example I studied.
  3. I ordered two and both arrived. I have a feeling these are not going to last long....
  4. Mine is 131114 Charlie
  5. I'd be in for two hardcovers
  6. Don't blame you for not wanting to ship that beauty internationally. Something really good must have come up to let that one go. Charlie
  7. Here is a clearer pic of the first two characters. I really appreciate the help so far Happy new year Charlie
  8. It's hard to see any detail in the blade. Rust to the habaki 25 3/4" chu kissaki gunome midare iori mune. I did see some hada under the habaki. Came in a "shinbun" mounts...
  9. Pulled this one off the trash pile. It was literally being thrown away. The nakago was really clean and the blades rusted. Needed some help on the mei. Thanks Charlie
  10. Neil, Part of the difficulty is the high cost of swords and lack of knowledge. This leads many first time buyers to get "taken" with their first purchase. Many stop right at the first purchase after a bad experience. The reason I got hooked was because my now good friend gave me a hell of deal on papered Shin Shinto navy sword. He knew it was first sword and he took a nice percentage off to encourage me. That was all it took for me to catch the sword bug. First, impressions are important! Charlie
  11. I could only hope my collection is passed onto someone who really cherishes it. As one of the younger collectors here on the forum. I will do my best to encourage other new collectors. I believe encouraging new collectors is the best long term solution to preserving swords. I also stress over the fact who will I have to just talk about swords in the future? My mentors are twice my age and some in poor health. I talk with them constantly and I can only hope they will be around for long time. Charlie
  12. Thanks John! I have to get my lights set up for some good pictures of the blade. It was caked with cosmoline when I found it. So I'm still in the process of cleaning the cosmoline off. Cheers Charlie
  13. Pulled this IJA sword out of the woodwork. Just need a bit of help on the mei. Sorry for angle. I can't get the picture to rotate and save for some reason Cheers, Charlie
  14. Paul, Glad you found a nice gem to get the blood pumping again. Its always nice when you get that rush. Regards Charlie
  15. I searched into the rest of the Japanese items on the site. What a bunch of junk. The sad part is someone probably will buy one of them too. Charlie

    Tsuba Id

Width 2.675 in Thickness .285 in Found this tsuba for very little money today. A decent amount of dirt and rust on this one. I know its a iron wakizashi tsuba and that's about all. Just looking for some more information. Thanks for the help!!! Cheers, Charlie
  17. Thanks guys
  18. Please forgive the pictures. My editing skills are not the greatest. Having a hard time getting anyway on this one. Charlie S
  19. Brian, That is just horrible anyway you look at it. It doesn't surprised me the seller is a SOB. I couldn't live with myself if I sold that junk. Charlie
  20. I wasn't saying anything was wrong with the brass plug or the sword only the paint possibly. I've heard this sword is off to China. Can anyone confirm this?
  21. The examples I've seen in person and in the Dawson and Fuller books the brass plug on end is not painted over. The NCO one on ebay was painted over, so when it was painted over is up for debate.
  22. I was looking at the auction too.. Crazy prices on ebay sometimes. Especially with the repainted scabbard. I like military swords, but I can't justify 4K on a NCO sword. charlie
  23. Also copper handles have no drag on the scabbard and the sarute is also wrong. Charlie S.
