  1. Thanks to all who took the trouble to help. I have posted some more pic's on photobucket and will put a link at the bottom of the page. These swords are a real bummer to photograph This is the link and the pictures are titled "Kat" http://s201.photobucket.com/albums/aa29 ... gers_2007/?
  2. Thanks to you all.I will photograph all The Nakago and post it.Is the signature Gimie?
  3. I would be most grateful if one of you experts out there could tell me what the signature reads.I bought this off a friend and he is 99% sure the the signature is gimie. He thought it read Kanemoto or Kanesada. Its a beautiful Katana in samurai mounts.I did try and photograph the blade but gave up in the end. Any help would be a great help.
  4. Hi,Go and see Bill Tagg at Liverpool Militaria. He's as straight as an arrow and will fix you up.You could always go to the arms fair at the National Motorcycle Museum or Stockport arms fair Bill stands at these fairs. Another member of this forum summed it up when he said "If you want to buy good swords, buy good books" There's a world of truth in that!
  5. Thanks KM. I will take some "before & after" pics and post when all is done. The present mounts don't do it justice.
  6. Thanks for the replies. The Ujifusa is in Gunto mounts but I'm pretty sure they have been added to make a "Complete sword" I was toying with the idea of getting it re-mounted in Samurai fittings not to decieve but just for my own pleasure. I also have a Munemitsu sword thats had the same treatment with the Gunto mounts. The blade is only 21" but the saya is about 26".The blade is lovely and I am off to see a guy tomorrow about a re-mount.
  7. Hi All. Just got my new Wakazashi yesterday after a polish and a new Sirasaya.I have posted the pic's on Photobucket and there is a link at the bottom of the post. The Wak came from Bill Tagg in Liverpool and his mate Eric made the Hibaki and the Shirasaya. The polish was done by John Bolton. I am well pleased with it all! I have also posted pic's on "Bucket" of my Ujifusa in Gunto mounts. As you can see it has a pit in the Kissaki. Its the only thing that lets it down.Still, for what I got it for I can't complain. Would welcome comments from all you experts out there. The Wak is Mumie. http://s201.photobucket.com/albums/aa29 ... gers_2007/ Forgot to mention I am looking for a Katana in Samurai mounts. If anyone has one for sale please get in touch.
  8. Hi Stephen,Vietnam is fantastic. I was there for a month in April 2000. If you get a chance go to Hue and the Imperial City. Hoi-An is very nice also its where I based my self.Great food, very cheap made to measure clothes.I met a lot of Aussies and Americans there.Hanoi is cool too.Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
  9. Here we go again! I used to pistol shoot but they managed to put the mockers on that by banning all handguns and guess what? Gun crime went up! I suppose this will mean that I can't go to Tesco now dress as a Shogun carring my two sword's. Welcome to the Granny State!
  10. Hi Jock,I have a sword by Ujifusa. I got it from a friend of a friend.I swopped it for a P38 pistol and I know who came out of that one best! It originally came from Bill Tagg of Liverpool Militaria who is well known for his honesty in dealing with Japanese swords. If you let me have your e-mail address I will send you a scan of the signature.Sort of you show me yours and I'll show you mine. My e-mail brian.hancock4@ntlworld.com
