  12. Hi Mark, Good to see you on Sunday. I have a papered sword with a 2 colour bind as well. I will be interested to see what the board members come up with. Steve Smith thought it may be a rank or status symbol or a clan thing as you suggest. Cheers, Brian.

  14. Hi All, Just got the Yari back from the polisher yesterday. Here are some images for you all to see. I think he has done a fantastic job. The polisher was Tony Norman down in Ol' London Town. Cheers, Brian H.
  15. Hi All, I will be 63 in October. I started collecting about 2 years ago. First 2 swords were an Ujifusa which I swapped a Walther P38 (De-Ac) for it and a Munemitsu Chisa Katana for which I gave an SA Dagger. Sold the Ujifusa but still have the Munimitsu. I love collecting the swords but could quite easily just collect fittings. Vast subject we are interested in and I sometimes find it all a bit bewildering! Brilliant
  16. Hi All, The Yari I posted on the board earlier came from him. I've bought a few items from him with absolutely no problems. Brian (H)
  17. Hi Henry, I got that e-mail as well. I don't know how they have the nerve after the way Nihonto collectors have been treated by Ebay UK. I just thought "Up Yours" and deleted it. Brian.
  18. Just to say thanks to all for your efforts on my behalf. I would now be greatful if customs would just let go of it! Thanks Again, Brian.
  19. Hi Mark, I haven't got it yet as its "Awaiting Customs Charges" (Again!) but here is the picture from the Ebay listing.
  20. I have just bought this Yari and I am going around in circles trying to read the signature. Am I right in thinking this says Hisayuki? A full translation of the signature would be great. Thanks, Brian.

  22. Hi Barry, Just found this in 1st.edition Hawleys. "Katsunori. Tottori. Modern Army Blade Assn " Ka1479c Hope this helps a bit. Brian
  23. Hi James, I have a gunto with the signature "Noshu ju Asai Toshihide" Not a lot of info on him but there is an oshigata on the web. No Seki or showa stamp on it. Cheers, Brian
  24. Hi Louis, Great stories both, very inspiring. Any chance of some pictures of the Bamford-Fletcher ladies sword? I also wonder if she was related to JCB aka John Bamford of digger fame ? Just a thought. Cheers, Brian.
  25. I have a sword in Kai-gunto mounts signed "Hizen ju Masakiyo" he was a Minatogawa smith but the blade has no Mon from the forge. The book by Wallinga quotes him as "Very little known" so he must have been the Scarlet Pimpernel of Minatogawa forge. I saw one of this smiths swords go for sale at $5,700 just to give you some idea of what dealers are asking. Cheers, Brian
