I would like to get fuchi kashira and menuki to go with a tsuba. Any recommendations on who could make top notch shinsakuto fittings?
Pattern is similar to this.

I would not assume that it was all made in one era. An early mirror fitting that was carved with two ana later and had gold added and ana filled in would be my first guess.
Not sure what that means since the sign of the cross has nothing to do with humans. Iy is only the sign of the trinity and crucifixion. Did she explain more on that?
Well, I have to say that the old addage is true, things are worth only what others are willing to pay, informed or not. I think it is one of the nicest tsuba i have seen. But would never pay that much...
I wonder is using an SEM and removing some of the Crucifix on the suspect tsuba would reveal under-surface patination that could be compared using MPIB-MS for chemistry differences. Then a hypothesis can be formed about the time of application of the cross relative to tsuba manufacturing.
Ford,
I think Hamano Noriyuki work seemed to be a little different look. But I found a very convincing Hamano Tyokuzui Kaou tsuba today that may be awfully close. Still not sure I am on the money.

Thanks. Mike
Thanks! The extra two inches makes a big difference in handling performance for me. But I am going to give it serious consideration since Jeff may have checked outm
