  1. Happy Holidays all! This is a used, worn-out blade I purchased long ago. Any thoughts on age, smith, school, etc...? Worth investigating further? Looks like it certainly had a rough life. Interesting Menuki... Very hard to see the Hamon, possibly Suguha Over-sized, worn-out paperweight?
  2. Thank you everyone. Everyone's feedback is certainly appreciated....keep it coming I doubt very much I could be lucky enough that this is a GO Yoshihiro haha. Perhaps from Ise daijo Yoshihiro in the Hizen style in the 1600's? The symbols he used to write his name are the same & the actually writing looks almost identical as one of his blades in the attached picture:
  3. Thank you very much. I really appreciate the feedback. Not sure these WW2 blades are of much value, but the historical significance and the fact that my Grandfather took such good care of it for 70 years offers come coolness. It sure seems to be a very good quality sword. Any other feedback anyone may have would be very welcome.
  4. This is the 2nd of 2 blades brought back by my grandfather from ww2. In beautiful shape. Hamon looks Ko Choji Midare. Blade is hand crafted gendaito in my opinion, not pressed. Looks like one side reads: Showa 18 year (1943) August. Correct? Star stamp is present on other side. Having a tough time translating the signature.... Thank you
  5. Hello all. My Grandfather was in WW2 and brought back a couple swords. The attached is a 22.5 inch Wakizashi that seems much older than a ww2 era blade. Nakago is a dark charcoal color. Only two characters are written on the Nakago: 吉 廣. Would appreciate any validation of my eyes and interpretation and any comments on the age/value. Thanks
