grew up in Springfield, ILL where I still live. graduated from HS and joined the USAF.  Spent total of 5yrs in Japan out of the 8yrs I served.  After the Turkey stint I decided the AF was not for me as wanted no part of the ME again.  Did study some Japanese while stationed there and it helped me find swords starting in 1973.  Of course knowing how to read kanji (not all) doesn't help in all aspects of learning good and bad about the quality of swords.  Anyway, have had juyo as well as gimei but the "hunt" was fun.  We are all just caretakers and sadly I have been selling off my collection but can't take it with me.  Like playing pingpong too but ain't worth a plug nickel !
