  1. I have notified eBay of this fradulent listing. Hopefully it'll be stopped before it's too late.
  2. The same seller that tried to scam on eBay the Yoshitake Daisho is having another attempt. Here is the previous post that Jock picked up: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2930&start=0&st=0&sk=t&sd=a And here is his attempt at another scam: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... :IT&ih=016 He's going for a one-day listing so let's try to stop this quickly, before someone finds themselves robbed of their hard earned money.
  3. Thanks guys. I'll just pay the high rate then.
  4. I've given this an attempt but there are a few kanji I can't get. Omote: En?-shu-Ju-X-Toshi?-Kane-Nobu-X-X-Saku Ura: Sho-wa-Roku-Jyu-Ichi-Nen-Go?-Gatsu-Kitsu-X (May 1986?)
  5. Hello all I purchased a sword from a dealer in Canada but he is having trouble finding a decent rate to send the sword from Canada to Australia. He first quoted me US$223 and I did a search and found a rate of about US$135, but this seems far too much considering I had 3 swords shipped from the US to AU in one package and the total was US$70. Can any of the Canadian members here give some direction or advice to me that I can pass on to the dealer?
  6. You're right Piers, my apologies to all.
  7. I don't own the tanto; it's something I'm considering buying. I can post photos of the blade if requested.
  8. Thanks guys. Daniel - if it says "two mekugi ana" then the tanto blade doesn't match the sayagaki since it has only one mekugi ana. The sugata doesn't look like a Soshu Hirotsugu anyway.
  9. Please could someone assist me here:
  10. I confess that I'm completely lost on this one:
  11. I don't believe it - I've found another one, but this one here is at a real bargain price: http://cgi.ebay.com/World-War-1-Japanes ... dZViewItem

  13. Yes I agree, and unless anyone comes across that exact kanji, I'm happy to leave it at that.
  14. Hi This is my sword that I put up on eBay. It was discussed here: viewtopic.php?f=15&t=3073 I'm selling it because : 1) There is another thing I want to buy but don't have enough spare cash 2) I already have enough swords that are in need of restoration Happy bidding P.S. You can send me a PM with an offer before the auction finishes, or just make a bid on eBay.

    Omi Yari

Just informing that due to a rather sudden need for funds, I'm putting this up onto eBay. I've scheduled the listing to start this Saturday at 12:30pm PDT
  16. Thanks for that Grey.
  17. It wasn't my intention to make you look bad Lee. I just wanted to share my own personal experience with this board and say my opinion. Please accept my apology for any offence I have cause you. As for the PM I sent to you, here it is for all to see. I really don't see what the big problem is.
  18. Lee As you said, I also may be relatively new but still I have been here since June 07 - 10 months longer than you - and honestly I have found this board to be thoroughly educational and a great help to me in my study of Nihonto in many regards. Just remember that us beginners are not paying for a translation service here, neither are we paying for someone to go and research whether a blade is gimei or not, or paying for an expert's opinion. These members are giving us a free service when they do this for us. So if I ask for a translation for a mei and don't get one, I don't feel offended because the members don't owe me anything - on the contrary, we owe the members for all the other times they've helped us! Just remember that.
  19. Seki(?) Jyu X Shige Can someone identify the third kanji?

That kozuka does indeed show the same design as that on the saya. Still no idea as to what it means but at least we are going in the right direction.

    Omi Yari

Hamon and hada aside, what tells you that it is fake? It'd be hepful if you elaborated on your statement. Thanks

    Omi Yari

I've just received the yari I was questioning about the nakago signed Fuji: viewtopic.php?f=15&t=3073 Now that I have it in hand, it seems to raise more questions than answer them. The Bad: Minor scuffs and pitting A hamon and hada that looks like it has been acid washed The nakago looks as if a previous owner just began to clean the nakago with a scotchbrite pad then thought better of it The Good: The shape is preserved I can see nie The Fuji kanji is well done I think this is an authentic Japanese Omi yari, but someone at some time decided to give it an acid etch. I don't know how else to explain that hada/hamon. Please look at the photos and give me some opinions.

Now that you mention the Chinese, it reminds me of the Naxi script: http://www.omniglot.com/writing/naxi.htm http://www.ancientscripts.com/naxi.html http://www2.db.dk/pe/images/Naxi/S_17%20%D8.jpg
