    Bungo Yukihira

Hi Guys, Does anyone have information about this smith? The wakizashi is very thick, and has a nice koshinohiraita hamon on one side and a togariba hamon on the other. Also has a saya with sayagaki. Comments on mei are welcome. Thanks in advance. P.S. I may be putting this up for sale if it is gimei.
  2. My mistake... sorry!
  3. http://cgi.ebay.com/Old-Antique-Japanes ... dZViewItem A result of buyer's remorse or a scam?
  4. http://cgi.ebay.com/NICE-OLD-Japanese-T ... dZViewItem Looks to be an interesting piece for sale. Probably has a very high reserve price though.
  5. That's for the head's up guys - it's not the first time I've had my auction stolen. Anyway, it looks like it's being dealt with considering the bidding is now up to $20K. Wish I got that for my auction! And I've just looked at his other listings and it seems that he has copied at least one other auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/Japanese-SAMIRAI-TS ... dZViewItem
  6. There's a bit of a contradiction in that statement there ...
  7. I believe it is either Noriyuki or Sadayuki.
  8. Hi Guys, Can anyone help me with this one? Not sure of the third kanji
  9. Here's a high res photo of the nakago. http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb13 ... yetoki.jpg
  10. Hmm... could be Kanenaga. Doesn't really seem to match the mei from TT or Fujishiro though.
  11. This is the best find I have had this year so far. I'll need a bit of help to evaluate it since I'm a novice. Blade: Pointed gunome hamon, suriage nakago?, signed X Naga Saya: Fully inlaid with lacquered samekawa wrap in almost perfect condition Fuchi: Detailed engravings of waves *Missing Kashira Tsuba: Gold inlays, has some specks of paint (How should I clean this?) Kozuka: Carp swimming up a river or waterfall, gold inlays. Signed Teruhide Kogatana: Amazing detail (!) of a dragon and peony. Nice hamon with lots of tobiyaki. Signed Umetada Can anyone elaborate on the above please? Many thanks in advance!
  12. Thanks, my friend.
  13. Sorry for my delayed reply. Yes there is another kanji above 野 Do you know what it says? Oh and just so everyone knows, I will be selling this on eBay. The listing will begin tonight if I get the translation by then. Thanks!
  14. I reached the conclusion simply by looking at other examples, and making note of things such as chisel strokes, yasurimei, nakagojiri, etc. There are some things that look right such as the patina of the nakago and the hamon, but these are outweighed by the things that aren't in line with examples that are shoshin.
  15. Ah, I see now that it is an obvious forgery. My apologies for the time wasting.
  16. Thank you Jacques. Unless someone can give me a reason not to, I think this'll be another one I will be sending over to Japan for Shinsa. Paul, keep a fire extinguisher nearby so that if proves to be shoshin, I won't be the cause of your demise due to spontaneous combustion out of jealous rage  Does anyone know of an online article, research documents, etc. of Masayuki/Kiyomaro?
  17. From the mei's of Kiyomaru I've seen on the net, it seems that his signatures are not very consistant in style. Here are some extra photos as requested. It seems to be remarkable similar to the Kiyomaru sold at samuraisword.com
  18. Just realised it's Kiyomaru. Should've known that before. It wouldn't be the Kiyomaru would it? It's dated on the ura by I can't decipher it:
  19. Not sure about the last kanji or are the two kanji after Kiyo ?
  20. It reminds me of those small non-traditional blades that Japanese craftsmen make, such as the ones pictured below:

    Kozuka

Thanks Brian - I suppose that explains the engraving on the kogatana (a dragon). That's rather clever now that I think about it. Wakizashi also has a fully inlaid same' saya in mint condition, looking forward to getting my hands on this one (still in transit).

    Kozuka

Hi Guys, Just bought a wakizashi with nice koshirae, and it has this kozuka. Can anyone tell me anything about it?
  23. Can't figure out this one, any help is appreciated.
  24. Ah yes, you refer to the intercalary months and the differences due to lunar/western calendar. I read a nice post on Swordforum International about that. Think it was Carlo...
  25. I believe Aoi and some other dealers use a long scanner to get those images. 'Shichi Gatsu Hi' just means 'A day in July' - nothing lucky about that particular day I guess.
