  1. Hello all, I recently purchased this waki on eBay.. it's a very nice blade but I'm not sure which gen Kawachi Kunisuke it is. It doesn't seem to be a close match to the oshigata in Fujishiro's but I really believe it is not a gimei. Please have a look at the pic. Thanks guys.
  2. Auction's over - sold to two different buyers
  3. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... :IT&ih=002 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... :IT&ih=002 I am a bit saddened to see a daisho being of one owner and being sold separately. I hope that it will be a happy ending and they will both be sold to the same person and remain together.
  4. I owned a Kanabo Masatsugu wakizashi myself. Wow, that hamon was amazing. It was my favourite piece but then I discovered a hagire. I returned it to the seller in Japan and when I asked the dealer what would become of it, he promptly informed me that he had paid Japanese Customs 10000Y to destroy the sword.
  5. It looks like Guido's evil twin hacked into his account again... :D
  6. Wow, look at all those swords.. and that tsuba
  7. Is this gendai?
  8. Whilst the sword is not in polish (and there is some glue stuff stuck to the blade) there is a distinctive Jizo boshi and gunome hamon.
  9. I'll post photos of the hamon and boshi later
  10. Oh excellent I have a sword by a ¥12M smith  Seriously though, it does look more like kore than sada but then again Kanekore is from Meiji and the sword is definately older. *EDIT* On closer inspection, I believe Koichi is correct in saying the kanji is sada 定 and the first thing that I thought when I saw the sword even before analysing the mei was "Mino"...
  11. Hi all, I have a wakizashi that I believe reads Izumi kami Kanekore saku. There is one recorded on the Nihonto Knowledge Base as an 11th generation, but I have found no oshigatas or information on him in either Fujishiro's or Toko Taikan. If anyone has any information on him and/or oshigata, please post it here. Many thanks in advance.
  12. http://daimyou54eb.web.infoseek.co.jp/A2-916/index.htm Look at the photo of the kissaki.
  13. He's a high ranked smith so probably gimei but might be good... :| http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... :IT&ih=002
  14. Welcome Aristeas - good to see another Aussie on board. I sent a message to the seller of the fakes advising him that his swords are Chinese fakes so he shouldn't advertise them as Japanese antiques. Needless to say, I received no reply...

    Yumoto Papers?

Dirk, I wondered about that also and came to the same conclusion as you.

    Yumoto Papers?

Hi all, Just recently bought a fine wakizashi by Terukado, accompanied by some appraisal papers by the late John Yumoto. This is the first time I have seen papers from Mr. Yumoto, and I was wondering if anyone else owns something like this from Mr. Yumoto or knows how common they are in the states? They obviously aren't as valid as NBTHK or NTHK papers, and I plan on submitting the sword in the Sydney 09 Shinsa, but it's an interesting thing to have anyway.
  17. Hello (please post your name as per the forum rules) Here's the page on Sukeyuki from Slough's:
  18. I think $700 is cheap considering on eBay you get showato in poor polish that go for more than that.
  19. Not much information but here's the entry from John Slough's:
  20. The photos I (and he) was using were being hosted by a website - Photobucket in my case, so when you modify or delete the photos, any website on which the photo is linked i.e. the eBay auction, also gets modified since they are directly linked. So when I logged on to Photobucket I modified one of the photos to read the warning text, and that causes the photo on the fraudster's listing to also be modified. Sounds a bit confusing but it's dead simple.
  21. There is an oshigata of him in Slough's but not much info. It just says: MASAZANE Showa - Aichi; Low to Medium-Grade Showato
  22. Hi John, I think it's Sukehiro 助廣 not Norihiro.

    Bungo Yukihira

There is a Bungo Yukihira that has top ratings in in TT and Fujishiro's koto. Perhaps this is a later generation?
