I have had a sword with a few tiny spots of rust on for years and it hasnt got any worse. I just keep it well oiled. I dont think uchiko will remove it no matter how vigorously applied.

You need to use a program like Photoshop. Then you just goto resize image and select pixels, then reduce the height and width to less that 1024.

It sounds like rust if it is brown. Best thing to do if u can is post a pic so we can see it. If it is rust I wouldnt worry too much about it if its small, unless you have just payed out for a fresh polish of course.

I have adjusted the contrast a bit to make the signature stand out. Not sure about the first two characters but the others look like Toshi/Shun Mitsu Saku. Im sure someone else can translate it fully (and accurately lol) When trying to post pics in future you need to resize them and make them smaller so the file size isn't so big. I use Photoshop, when resizing make sure the image is 1024x1024 pixels or less.

Thanks thats quite interesting. It does look very much like that and the description of the other aspects of the blade seems to match. I will have to look through some other books at Satsuma work and see what I can find.

Hi all, Just got this sword and was wondering if this thick dark line is Chikei. Am I right thinking it is because it is running through the hada and not the hamon?

Probably for quite a bit less than I paid but then it does have a lot of watchers ao who knows.
