Write or wrong, no worries here john :D
-
Thanks john, honestly how you guys make heads or tails of kanji is simply astounding especially on these worn, beat up, scribbles

I came up with "chicken tandoori " so wasn't to far off Thanks grey lol

Thanks bruno ,I very been crawling around the church collection for some time, very good place to look at examples, the tsuba I did manage to find that used similar artistic style's was from an auction house and had the tsuba listed as ko-kinko I know that directly doesn't match up, but the style had many matching points, possibly they had incorrect listing as "kinko" tsuba that and Google does seem to like to send me on the wrong path lately , at very least the search for info has granted quite a bit of knowledge Edit, closing topic, unknown Hizen tsuba

After many hours of research, while "Hizen" fits in written description, doesn't fit well with Hizen examples I'm seeing, I didn't include any specifics so here's a better idea Shape; Mokko / with slight goshi-gata "convex cross section" 4.5mm thick Kaku mimi koniku "square rim with slight rounding" 3mm thick at square edge Generic kozuka / kogai hitsu-ana both 1.85 L X 1.05cm W Inlay; is Hira-zogan , cross hatching around waves say nunome but not for sure if that's accurate as of right now Theme; from a study on dragon mythology, quote; "Then are pictured celestial dragons ascending and descending through the upper air, tearing a path, perhaps, through swirling mists and shadows, "in pursuit of effulgent jewels or orbs that appear to be whirling in space" first impressions, the silver dots were to accentuate the Nami or "waves" but could also be tema or pearls, jems, orbs? IDK I still have many questions, in regards the "style" or form of the waves, I'm finding nothing similar, has anyone seen similar work in shape/ form or style before ? If so does it got a "name" or classification I'm curious And Am I on a "snipe" hunt based on estimated time period 1700-1800's, odds of narrowing school or provence down above 25%? If is " hizen" got a similar example you could show me, I did find a couple examples from one school that hit on many points "kinko" school, so possibly one of the subdivisions? Is my guess here's a couple ko-kinko that had similar points first pic, waves similar in form with silver dots, tagane around nakago second is a dragon very close in style among a few other similarities thanks in advance

OK hoanh, Thanks for reply I think I have some, still learning and now learning how to shoot useful photos resize/editing and communicating through text lol Here's what I had, tho less than helpful I'm sure. It appears as belts of differing nioi, possible nijuba or sanjuba? Just another small detail that may or may not be relevant and a few shots that show just how much things change on this one, the polishing really throws my eye off on this -
I've shifted my attention to another blade for awhile, put some pics of it in another thread , after going over it looking at the "forest" for some time, I'm now focusing on the "tree" so to speak. While It's pretty "basic" or "average" I can see some interesting activity's hidden, very subtle and I'm now getting tripped up the longer I look at various areas So here's another thing I'm unsure of, the streaks near the "ha" as shown in the pics , what do you guys make of it?
-
hi Jeremy, what are those symmetrical streaks I see in the 3 pics?
-
Interesting thread, I recently cought the nihonto photography bug, your pics showed quite well

good eye and on an area with poor photo I just went through my pics I have 2 that kinda show Yakidashi past the hamachi quite possibly im mistaken I'm looking into it now, will try to resize some shots, blade hides so much from my camera "phone cam " is a pain , this blade was picked up for study at a very fair price, so got no worries on this one, still got a LOT to learn so your guys experience is invaluable If your eyes catch something "suspect" or want a specific shot just ask -

Here's one up for judgment soon, and having some fun in mean time, many faces on this one here's some of the activities I was able to catch My bad, got notes jumbled and posted specs from a different wak Specs shortly
-
That's a nice first piece, would like to see some color photos from off angles on that one, looks like should be pretty easy to get the subtle details to show considering it's condition
-
I know you didn't ask for this opinion, but if I think of this blade as for sale for 1000 just the blade from what I can and cannot see, I wouldn't buy its just not showing enough and is showing too much at the same time, but did catch a small glimpse of potential in one pic but was so vague Personally I'd send it back if that is still an option, for just a little more $ you could find much better overall But your $$$ so your call Question, Can you get the Yakiba to pop if you shoot pics from different angle, down the blade at roughly 30 degrees like if was to inspect in hand?, can you see utsuri ? I'm curious for research sake
-
It's like a finger pointing at the moon, don't concentrate on the finger or miss all that heavenly glory The kizu are the finger, try to get creative with light/camera angles, then maybe it will reveal it's self been studying a blade for 9 months now and just finally started to photograph what I could only glimpse OR there's just no soul to be seen but I doubt that

To have polished OR not ??? your thoughts on it
