  1. Hi everyone, Thank you so very much Brian and the people who had in depth discussions with me concerning this wakizashi. Very much appreciated. The wakizashi was sold today. Kind regards Alan

  3. Good day Mr b. hennick, for the uninformed such as myself, can one rework these old pieces through heat and forging into a small blade..or does one just keep the pieces?
  4. Thanks so much for your positive replies guys, much appreciated. Is it not funny how human nature is. I had a reply from a reputable German nihonto dealer who wanted even more of a discount. Good luck with that old chap. I am really enjoying the information on this site and I will be purchasing more nihonto for my collection in the not to distant future. I am actually getting into the frame of mind where the more I look at this wakizashi with all the questions that I have been asked from perspective buyers, the MORE i enjoy having it SO..... why sell it????? I looked at the hamon in detail under a 10x magnification glass and WOW, that is all I can say. For the more experienced people on the site you will know precisely what I am talking about. The big question.... WHY SELL IT THEN?? Need to buy a shinken for martial arts and then there is the glock thats waiting for me with my name on it.... Need I say more guys??? hehe Really people, if you want this wakizashi then make a plan, ... possibly take a loan from Grandma if you have to, because this here waki, aint gonna be up for grabs much longer.
  5. Hi all, My apologies. I am asking $2000 which will include the cost of shipping. Thanks for your response. Alan
  6. Good day all, I have a very nice 60cm koto wakizashi for sale. This shortened Tachi was polished by Bob Benson and what a success he made. Bob said that the nihonto was probably made by the Tegai Ryu. A new Habaki, Tsuka and saya were made. Tsuba, Menuki, fuchi and kashira are all antique. Although plain plum design, the tsuba has great bones. Bags for the tsuba and sword are also part of this package, as received from Bob. The price for the koto wakizashi will include shipping. Please contact me on tonboalan@gmail.com Thank you Alan
  7. Hi all, Another South African. I have worked with metals most of my life at one stage or another. I am a turner by trade, although I no longer do that as an income. I think when I started to look at Fords work on tsuba, wow the man has a talent, I started to get interested in the Japanese sword. Thank you Alan
