Concerning the NTHK-NPO, I'm quite disappointed with their frequency of mistakes on their kanteisho. I just had to send back some of their certificates due to blatant errors. One one they wrote mumei when it has a clear and obvious signature! On another they wrote late muromachi period, when in fact this school was only established in the early Edo period and only started to sign like on my piece during the mid to late Edo period! These are just two mistakes, I know of many more within this past year. I definitely give much more trust to the NBTHK papers than NTHK -NPO.

Soild Gold Menuki School Identification

Looks like Goto school to me. -
I have noticed that lately the NTHK kanteisho certificates have blatant mistakes. For example I submitted a set of SIGNED Yoshioka menuki to the NTHK-NPO in Japan, the certificate came back with mumei written on it although it was attributed to Yoshioka inaba no suke! Also the menuki where attributed to the late muromachi period, when it's obvious that they are late Edo period. Besides the Yoshioka family didn't start to sign with this title until the mid Edo period. I know of several more such mistakes on recent certificates. I wonder what is going on with the NTHK lately? If they continue like this they will loose much of their credibility.

I had to wait one year to get my sword back from Tirado. But it was definitely worth the wait.
-
I highly recommend John Tirado. He just made an Ireko shirasaya and two piece habaki for me which turned out amazing.
-
I don't have any more pictures of the habaki right now. I asked John for some, and I will post them here as soon as I receive them. The sword is now going directly from John to Bob Benson for Shiage polish.

The hinge is made of water buffalo, in fact all parts which are black are made of it. The white parts are made of legal preban elephant ivory.

Just received these pictures of my new ireko shirasaya and two pice solid gold and solid silver habaki, made by John Tirado.

Japanese Antique Sword-A Famous Fighter's Sword

To me this looks like it was made not that long ago, and then it was aged to make it look old. Two million usd for an undocumented sword of very questionable origin! What do you smoke? -

Chounsai Tsunatoshi Second generation -
I was wondering if one can trust NBTHK Tokubetsu Kicho papers from around 1979, if they were issued for a signed blade? Thank you.

Thank you Jussi.
-
Yes I thought so too.
-
Thank you Ray for the translation. Do you think it would be worth to have this polished?
-
This is the second sword I need translation help with. Also an approximate market value would be great.
-
A friend has asked me for some help to translate this paper and figure out the approximate value of this sword. Thank you.

Thank you two for the information.

Hello, I need help with this text. Thank you all.

Right, I reported him with eBay. But in the end what will it help.

It was 1***b. This has happened to me before. I'm annoyed with eBay by now, and would much prefer selling this set here on NMB to a serious collector.
