  1. Thank you Barry. I have someone interested in purchasing a sword from me who lives in Melbourne. So he was asking me if I could send it to him.
  2. I have a question regarding how the procedure is in order to send a Katana from the USA to Australia. Thank you.
  3. I'm looking for Tanto made by Mukansa smith for possible purchase.
  4. I'm trying to gather information about the gendai smith takahashi tsuguhira. My understanding is that he was a mukansa smith, and that he passed away in 1996? Couldn't find anything else about him. I'm somewhat surprised about that, especially since he was a mukansa smith. I would appreciate any information, pictures ...etc. Thank you.
  5. This blade doesn't look like a modern clone at all! I would say this is an authentic nihonto, probably late muromachi period that had some rust damage, which somebody tried to remove unprofessionally.
  6. Very nice set. Are they signed?
  7. What do you mean with his reputation? I haven't heard much negative about him.
  8. I did notice though that the nthk has quite a lot of mistakes in their origami lately. I personally just received yesterday my corrected paper for a set of Menuki which are signed and from the late Edo period. The first nthk paper stated though them being mumei and from the muromachi period. Now they corrected it though.
  9. I'm hearing mainly negative opinions about the NTHK -NPO coming from Japan. Whereas in the USA it seems that the nthk has a better reputation. I wonder why that is the case?
  10. Found a similar set of Menuki supposedly by the same maker. They don't look as well made as Fords Menuki though. http://page2.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/b212600004
  11. That Tsuba would look great with David's Fuchi kashira set. He probably owns both?
  12. David? I got them from Touken Matsumoto.
  13. Then I really question the importance of Juyo certificates, if it's not really evaluating quality and rarity.
  14. By that logic how did the first blade pass? There has to be a first! So if quality, condition and rarity and history are criteria for passing Juyo, then why wouldn't a very good quality blade that's in top condition, signed, dated, name of the samurai who commissioned the blade engraved on the nakago and NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon be a good start to try Juyo? Just because there is little known about the smith or there are only a handful of his blades still in circulation?
  15. I just picked up this unique Fuchi Kashira set. I really liked the mix of copper and shakudo on this set. I have never seen this technique before. Does anybody have any examples of this style?
  16. So if you submit a very good quality blade by a not so famous smith and, from whom there are very few blades still around, does that mean that you would have a good chance of it passing Juyo?
  17. What do you mean with competition factor? How does the Juyo shinsa work?
  18. Yes I put this on hold, and will actually purchase this blade. Thank you all for the info.
  19. I'm wondering if it's worth to submit this blade for Juyo shinsa? What is the chance of this blade passing. I know that about 20 of this smiths blades have obtained Juyo status. http://www.aoijapan.com/16248
  20. What is written next to Kanenobu? Tanks.
  21. The signature is actually: Horie Okinari
  22. I was wondering what the theme of these menuki represents? Never seen another similar set.
  23. I agree Grant. I liked this hamon and jigane so much, that I wound up buying this wakizashi. I just wish I could figure out which Nobukuni this is?
  24. I'm trying to figure out which Chikuzen Nobukuni this is? It's currently on Aoi.
