  1. I tried to edit the photo of the second wakazashi and this is what I came up with. The middle character appears to be Kuni? The top and the bottom characters still appear to illegible unless I am missing something?? Am I correct or at least close? -Karl
  2. Thanks all for the responses it helps a lot. I'll definitely bring these into my local sword club so that they can have a look at them, but I like to have some idea of what I have before going in and getting their help, always counts to be prepared :D . Thanks again, Karl edit~ and thanks for the photo guide Gabriel
  3. Hi all, I just received a 3 new swords from my grandfather, two wakizashi and one katana. One of the wakizashi's has a relatively easy to read signature but I can only figure out the first three characters, Bizen Kuni, I believe. The rest I am having a hard time with. The other two have very hard to read signatures as it seems that someone decided to try and clean the tang in the past so they are basically unreadable. I would appreciate help with the rest of the translation for the one wakizashi and any information that you can come up with about the other two, they look like nice blades so I hope that there is some redeeming quality about them. Thanks Cheers Karl Biggs
  4. Hi everyone, I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but I'm looking for information about what time the Southern California Sword Society meets. I know that they meet at the Japanese Cultural Institute in Gardena but I have not been able to find out what time. Any help would be appreciated, Cheers Karl Biggs
  5. Wow, I didn't expect so many replies so quickly! I'm even happier now that I know know that this is actually as old as it is. I'll try to find a local club in my area so that they can check it out further but thank you all for all for the information. Cheers Karl
  6. Hi All, For my graduation, I received a Sword from my Grandfather who received it when he was part of the occupying force in Japan after WWII. He says that it was a family heirloom that was confiscated. After a couple of hours of research I believe the signature reads "Bitchu Kuni Mizuta Ju Kunishige" but I am not sure of that is entirely accurate. Regardless of whether I am correct or not I would really like to know the time period this sword was made and any other information directly or indirectly pertaining to it. Also, would this sword be worth it to restore and really put some time into. Cheers Karl Biggs
